I think I might be in trouble. My brother just bought a 2005 left-over
F7. He is going to stud it out. I have a 2006 Apex ER with 144 studs
and 1000 miles on my sled. Does anyone think I have a chance of beating him? I think it will
be a good race. I think if I can get a hole shot, my mid-range should
be able to pull on him, but for top end, he may just catch me.
What are you all thinking. Do you think the APEX can come out
on top?

I own an Apex RTX, and I think that you could beat him on top easily, the only place he might have an advantage is out of the hole, as long as he doesn't leave you far behind your mid and top end will crush him.
That's just what I think, I have got about 800 miles on mine and it pulls through the mid awfully strong and the top end is good.

U should have no problem. top end on ice my rtx was 3-6 mph faster than several f-7's
out of the hole should be closer if you are on grass, hardpack, or crust.
on ice you will get smoked on the start.

My brother has an 06f7, i would beat him in 660 by 2 sleds, now he has a bmp pipe mod and 4" intake, I still beat him but its very close by half sled.

How do you like the Attack. I am considering an 07 for next year.

If he is stock, you will have no problem beating it. The 05's were dogs.

i have the RTX and raced a pretty fast 04 f7 and to be completely honest, it was no match. I was ahead from start to finish. 05 F7's with the DD are even slower. I don't think you will have a problem. We raced countless times from a stop or on a roll and it wasn't even close to be honest.
You'll win for sure if the F7 breaks down, and as often as I see that on the trails it's a good possibility it won't even be a race.

The F-7's have a strong midrange, but the track profile will slow him down on top end. In our garage full of Yamaha's, The 2005 Vector runs even with the F-7, your Apex ER and my Apex GT should beat the F-7
