I haven't been on this site in a while, however i do know where to come to seek help. My Rage has 6,000 miles on it and has developed a rough idle. The carbs have just been cleaned and all looks good. I put new spark plugs in and it starts right up and will run smoothly as long as the tach reads 1500 RPM or more. When warm and the choke is off it settles down to a normal idle between 750 and 1000 RPM. This is where the idle is rough, sounds like an old motor with a lot of vibration. You can see the motor vibrate at idle and feel it all through the sled. Noticable on the seat, front bumpet etc.As soon as you give it the smallest amount of gas to raisae the RPM, It smoothes right out. On a jack stand it will rev right up with no hesitation and runs the way it always has. Anybody got any ideas? The camchain tensioner was changed out about 1,000 miles ago.
Thank you in advance!

How fresh is the gas? Old gas could be the problem...run some fresh gas, maybe add some Seafoam to help clean up the old. If it continues, clean the carbs again.

Your idle should be set at 1400 RPM as per manual.

I put some new gas in with stabilizer. I'll check that rpm setting and see what happens.
I just realized this is under the RX section. Could someone move this to the RS section. Sorry
Thanks for everyone's reply. I'll let you know how I make out.

idle way too low, mine is set at 1800,its much smoother
Did the idle problem show up right after cam chain tensioner was done? I did my own tensioner 2 years ago and mine would not idle at all w/o giving it throttle. It would run perfect to top end. Cleaned carbs 3-4 times- no help. Found out the chain had jumped during the process. I had to remove tensioner, get cams lined up correctly and re-install. Idles perfect again.
