Hey whats up everyone.

I have a 2005 RX-1 ER and want to change out all my wheels before this riding season. Last year my rails cracked and I think its because of the inside wheels the sled came with. Apparently this shop up in northern Maine (where my sled originated from) swaps out the stock wheels on RX-1's with larger polaris wheels. I think I read that a part of the wheel mounting bracket needs to be shaved to make the larger wheel sit where the smaller wheel would have. If you dont modify the bracket the larger wheel will "sit low" and take a beating, therefore cracking the rails near the wheel bolt. Well this happened to me last year and I had to replace my rails.

I wanted to get peoples opinions on what wheels/wheel combos I should go with. I would like to go with wheels with the replaceable bearings but mostly I want to go for STRENGTH and longevity. I want to get the best wheels on there that wont beat on my track or rails.

Thanks everyone I look forward to what you have to say.

Also, someone pointed out the dimpling on my bump stop which may mean I need my rear shock revalved? Is there any way I can check the rear shock myself?

thanks

I don't know that is what happen to your sled.
I also have an 05 RX1 and the same thing happened to my sled. I think I could replace a wheel or two after every ride. My rails cracked just like yours. From what I understand it is a common problem. Yamaha should step up to the plate and replace and repair the fix on these mono skids.
They are junk!
