Hey Everyone!
I have a few tears in my 2005 RX-1 seat. I would like to get them repair because it does not do the sled any justice........and I dont want it to get any worst.
Ive had a few upholstery shops quote me at $200-$250 for a repair, but stop me if im wrong, isnt that the price of a used RX-1 seat?
Anyways, just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for how I could fix it. I would like it to look as "factory" as possible but im open to different suggestions. Please direct me to the right info on how I could fix this as best as possible by myself.
Thanks You

You should be able to find used 2005 seats for well under $250- I think I sold a couple in the $100 range. Now would be a good time to upgrade to a 2006+ Apex seat, much better riding position plus a decent storage compartment.

i have a 2005 rx war seat with the silver stripe if interested.
you could also do a wrp seat kit to yours if you fab your own storage box to fill the hole. kit is very easy to install otherwise.

There is a guy in Winnipeg who will recover your seat for less then that! If I where you I would pick up a 06 up seat and add a Riser to the bars. I added a Rox 2 inch riser and tilted it forward because you sit a little more forward with the Apex seat. If you go higher then the 2 inch riser you will need a mountain throttle cable. With the two inch riser I had to reroute the stock cable to make it work. You will like it and it won't cost much more. Your seat needs work so why not upgrade! Check the classifieds you will find a seat there. That is where I bought mine and it was worth every penny of the 250 bucks.

Im in the process of doing the newer seat thing. Just wondering what is the best method for cutting the tank cover? And how much do you cut? Do you do the cutting in place ?

on the 2 rxwar we did, we just masked it off with tape and used an air cut off tool on the sled (in place). dremmel would work as well.
