2005 rx1 donut gaskets

Can anyone tell me what are the signs of the donut gaskets going on these sleds, me and three other friends have these sleds and have never touched them. Mileage on sleds range from 4000km to 14000km just wondering as I hear pipe damage can happen if they aren't caught in time. Thanks for your input!

Basically the first thing you notice is that the sled gets progressively louder as you ride. My first set went around 13,000 KM. Friends with Apexs went between 8000KM and 12000KM.
The 05 has the titanium pipes (I believe) which can be swapped out for the 03/04 stainless pipe.

Oh, don't forget to check the gaskets on the two into one pipes under the seat, at the same time.

Sometimes there are no signs, I inspected mine because I had the seat off (no other reason) with about 4000km and one was leaking. You could tell because there was black soot all over the heat shields inside near one pipe.

mine went last feb on the ride. did not really get any louder but it failed the mitten test on the last day of riding we did. 9500km on the sled and i had a worn out flange. kirkswim posted a pic of it here as he owns the sled now.

I had tinging noises from under the tank area. Couldnt find the rattle until I took off the seat and saw that the gaskets were shot. The clamps were rattling. Mine was not noticeably louder.. slightly but not horribly, Course I have K&N filters and those are louder then the exhaust while riding.

Everytime mine went sled would pop on decleration.

Bigfish is correct 05 have titanium headers and they will crack, plan on replacing them with stainless ones from a 03 04 as they bolt right in and you will never have issues with cracking with the stainless.

So really other then the sled getting loud and the chance of the clamps rattling and risk of y pipe cracking no other real harm can be caused by these being gone?

Thats how I noticed mine as well and I had two that were shot. You will hear rattling and tinging noises and yes the sled was louder and just didnt sound right.

Isn't there a risk of fire if the donuts are shot?

mine were leaking at 6500 miles ruined pipes so i bought a set off an 04 fit perfect note thow put pipes on before headers or its a bugger to get pipes over retainors under tunnel
