2006 Attak
I bought a used Attak with 9k and the clutch is grabbing at 4500-5000 rpm. It's kind of a pain to maneuver around the yard. The book says stock should be around 3400 I think. Is there an easy way to change this. Is there really a benefit to the higher engagement for a trail sled?

After watching some youtube and doing some homework, I found that it has an ulmer clutch kit. So I'm guessing that's expensive to change and I might not want to? It seems like they are expensive and better than stock right?

Debatable! Its all about what you want from your sled, stock will give you a lower engagement but the kit gives you more whack off the line. Which is better is a toss up. Best way is to ride a sled with stock clutching after riding yours, then decide which you like! The clutch shouldn't really grab you should be able to feather it in. If the clutch is dirty it will stick and can cause it to grab!

Just got back from the UP and put a few hundred miles on it. I like the clutch and the "WHACK" it provides! I think I'm going to keep it like it is. I may clean it just to be sure. I went with a crossfire 800 and I loved the attak much more, way better corner to corner and wheel standing power. Took the bumps much better too, which I was a bit suprised about because the cat is a 2010 with a 141 skid. I'd ride mine all day over the kitten. 167 hp and the attak seemed and felt much much faster.

Perfect! I blow my clutches out with compressed air every 500 miles it goes a long way to keeping them clean and working smooth. Never lube them!

Great advice! Just did mine, a lot of black crap came out...I think this will be a regular thing in my maintenance schedule.
