I have a 2006 Apex RTX, I bought used at the beginning of the season. I blew a belt yesterday and had to take the driven clutch off to get all the cords out that were wraped around it. When it finally came apart I did not see what #'s the spring was in. The driven clutch is not a stock Yamaha clutch. It is a red faced MAXX Roller clutch. The spring looks to be silver/ gold or yellow. Only mods done to the sled besides the roller driven, is a 23 top gear, and studs on the track. What setting should I be using on the Driven clutch? 1,2 or 3 on the clutch half? and should it be 0, 3, 6, or 9 on the outer roller half? Does this MAXX roller take the stock yamaha drive belt? When I put clutch back together, I am not sure what holes I have it set in, but it did act a little differnt then the way it was set up when I bought it. The belt also squaked and inched ahead after I put the new belt on. Thanks, BBW

Alot of belts squeal when thay are now, but as for as the creping ahead, you may need to adjust your secondary's shims. They are the washers on th eback side of the secondary.
I can't tell you if I know anybody with that clutch set up, let us know how it's behaving now and what you need it to do, and we'll do the best we can to help...

Gordon, try putting washers in the rear of the secondary. this should open it up a bit and stop the noise. Worked well on mine.

Actually, take out the washers. this allows screw to push pulleys further apart allowing belt to sink down lower. That will take tension off hopefully stopping squealing & creeping. Like nate007 said sometimes belt just needs to be broken in...

be careful...that squealing will groove your sheaves...

as to the maxx roller...you dont need to run that spring...in fact I'd try your stock spring or even a white better yet ...depending on the helix angle...run it in the 6-1 or 6-2 holes as a starting point...

Hey Big Black, how are you? We were reminiscing about the RX1 ride from Montague a few years back, Friday, as Randy was getting his bulkhead welded after ripping the a arms off my old black RX 1 he rode that day. Hit a guardrail in Redfield.
I picked up a mint 06 RTX too..they are nice sleds after the shock gets revalved.
Where'd you put the airhorns? LOL
