I paid about $7600 for a left over '06 Vector GT in the fall of 2006. Demand and prices will vary by location. These are fairly trouble free machines but you might need to replace some idler wheels on the rear suspension. If it were my money, I'd offer around $6700 for the GT and see if they are interested. I've seen some sell for that price on eBay. Doesn't hurt to ask.sledmaine said:I was looking at a new left over 06 rs vector and the 06 rs vector gt today....the dealer was asking 7030 for the rs vector and 7295 for the rs vector gt, us dollars,.....are these good prices and are there any problems with theses sleds I should have checked out before I buy one of them.........thank you for any help on these two sleds....

With those price's I see why he's still got 2006's left, I don't remember exactly, but I think I paid around $6800 for my wife's RS and around $7100 for my GT and that was in the spring of 2006. I understand that these sleds are new, but they're also 2 years old. I checked Kelly Blue book and basically as soon as you sign the papers you'll lose around $1600, as they value a 2006 at $5700.00. If it were me, I'd offer him around $6000.00 and go from there. If he's expecting to break even on these, he's mistaken, in my opinion. Do what you want, but considering the 2007's were the exact price as the 2006's, I look for a different dealer and look for some 2007's. Good Luck.mbw919 said:I paid about $7600 for a left over '06 Vector GT in the fall of 2006. Demand and prices will vary by location. Thanks for the information...I am going to talk with another dealer tomorrow and see what he has to offer......I didn't think the prices he gave me were great and you two have confirmed that...I will get back to this dealer and try and get him down after showing him the NADA book on the sleds..
i paid $6700 for my GT in march of 06. if you can wait until the new line up comes out the incentives to the dealers to sell the leftovers is greater. that means $$$ savings to the customer.
Paid $6200 for an 08 Vector GT demo with 1300 miles back in Dec.
If you have that kind of $ to spend, don't wast your time with the old style vector, go with the 08 in the DBII chassis.
Not dissing the 05 to 07 models, but the 08's have been called the best trail sled of the year in reveiws and i will ditto that with 2300 mile on mine. JMO.

However,
The 08 Vector weighs 20lbs more than the 06 and 07 with the same motor. I have driven both and prefer the lighter sled. Perhaps Yamaha was doing this to the 08 to put a supercharger in it for 09. Thats only a rumor I have heard and waiting till thursday to see if its true

I agree on going with the '08, I love my '06, but I did ride a sled with the new chassis and must admit I like the ride better. Now if I could only convince my wife to upgrade, Yeah right.
I am not sure about any of the rest of you, but after buying a 2008 Vecter LTX GT last month for 7500, I would tend to say 7000 is a little high for a leftover 06. Maybe I was just lucky to find my deal, but thought I would throw in my 2 cents worth.

I just talked with a dealer that has a 2008 vector with reverse and electri start for 8000 so I agree that the price for the 2006 is way to high and the dealer is not going to come down so I am off to see the 2008....he also has the 2008 vector gt aniv. model for 8500.

If you aren't planning on studding I would use a set of 4" double downs (dooly's, duece bars, etc...) We've got them on ours and really like them, no darting whatsoever, I guess some brands tend to push in the corners, but we don't ride hard enough to notice. But for sure put on some sort of double runner carbide, you won't be dissappointed. Congrat's on the new purchase, I think you'll be very happy.

key
If you buy & it has the key that looks like a knife, throw it in the junk box. use the plain key.. The knife looking key can & will hang up on the gas tank keeping the starter motor engaged untill it burns the starter up . big bucks to repair. n
