Hi
Just bought a new 2006 RS Venture and I'm starting to have some concerns about what I'm hearing about them
-Suspension arm breaking
-slides wearing out in no time
-Having to buy idler wheels because you can't replace the bearing
-having to upgrade the rear suspension for two up
Seem to me I have to pay more to get going this winter comming
Can anyone shead some light on these topics PLEASE and Thanks

Don't get too worried. Not all things happen to all Ventures but these are things to watch out for and if they occur, come back to the site and find out a resolution to it. But being a new sled, you're warrenty will cover stuff but may I suggest not to modify anything the 1st year including studding it might void parts of the warrenty. The RS Venture is a great ride, check out Hondo's 12,000 mile report on his Venture. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=27654

What is the mod you have to do on the suspension to fix the slide problem? How many and what type and were to install these idlers? I will be riding doudle next season so I should fix this first.
Thanks

I did the SLP Anti-wear pads before doing the oversized wheels. The pads work and is the easiest thing to do.

Some members have fully clipped the track with good results.
Other members who have just done the oversized wheels have had great results without the pads or clipping.
The Doo and Poo wheel bearings are .120 (3mm) wider so for the inner wheels (4) the bearing mounts have to machined .060 and the shock mount brackets have to turned down the same on each side to keep the wheels centered. Any machine shop can easily do this on a lathe, it took my quy 1 hour to do all 8 cuts. But then there is the hassle of pulling the skid which isn't too hard for the Venture. The outer wheels (2) just need a longer bolt, Yami part# SMA-8EK38-01:95817-10085-00. Doo wheel part# 503190802 (6). The other advantage of the Doo wheels are that they are much cheaper ($22 vs Yami's $60), they have replacable bearings (but at $22 who cares?), they seem to reduce the track howl issue and they last a long time. The downside is now you've modified the suspension and Yamaha has an excuse not to cover suspension warrenty issues. It was worth it. Again, check out Hondo's 12,000 mile report.
