I just picked up a 2006 rtx. My weight is 180. I hear the 2007 rtx package is better then the 2006. Any info on the difference would be great. And how do I distinguish the two apart. And will a skid out of a nytro be the same.

The 06 uses a mono shock suspension(coil spring over a single shock) and the the 07-09 use the ck dual shock(coil spring in front of skid, torsion spring in rear). the mono will be faster top end, but will bottom easier then the the ck in the rough. That being said both need to be re-valved and possibly re-sprung to make these suspensions work better. As for the nitro skid, I think it's pretty close the apex rtx but I don't think it is a straight swap out, but I may be wrong somebody here will know.

If it were me,(and it's not) I would stick with the mono. When I had mine I used it the first year as is. Was very plush but bottomed out. I sent the shock to Frank at ShockTec in Drayton for a revalve and it was like a completely different skid. Well worth it. Sent my shocks from my ZX2 this year to him for the same. btw... I am roughly the same weight as you...
