Has anyone ever repaired that rubber stud used on the inside of the clutch side cover? This is the only one on the inside of the cover. The rest of the cover is held on with the screws around the perimeter. The rubber stud is about 2/3 rds broke off. Not sure if JB weld or anything else will bond and give enough strength.

What has anyone done if the stud is broke off completely? I obviously am not looking to replace the panel. Will it hold up well enough using just the screws and not worrying about the stud?

Any help is appreciated,

Had the rubber stud break off on the opposite side on my APEX 2 years ago. I have had no issues with the panel staying on and tight with out while riding. Sled has 17000 km on it.

I broke mine off on my 05 Vector about 5 years ago. Left side panel It is not an issue. The hood and all the screws keep the panel in place when riding.

When you install the panel, place your hand on the top of the fake vent panel plastic and move it so that the hole becomes open and then insert the rubber stud into the hole and let go. Goes right in real easy. Do it that way on both sides when installing the panels . I don't think that you will have a problem if the rubber stud has broken off with all those screws and with the hood is shut.

I realised several years ago that, that stud would bend and not engage the rubber grommet properly after doing maintenance. I noticed that the stalk of the stud was hollow which allowed it to bend easily when trying to put the panel back in place. So I filled the hollow portion with epoxy glue, and that strengthened the stud to allow placement more easily. Now after several years it has also weakened for me as well, and no longer engages properly. As mentioned by Vectornut, all the screws and hood cover will keep the panel in place. However, it still bugs me a little every time I lift the hood that the panel doesn't fit tight in that area, but not so much that I would spring for a new side panel.

brothers is broken off and i drilled and used a tie wrap on his. he mangles parts pretty fast some times though.
