Just bought a 2007 Attak with 9,200 miles on it, got a Triton Elite open trailer with salt shield as part of the deal. This is my first wholly owned sled. Changed oil/filter, gear lube, hyfax, adjusted park brake, adjusted throttle cable (maybe a bit to tight), changed clutch side drive shaft bearing, aligned the track, greased everything i could.
It started and ran on demand no problem everytime while I was working on it.
Thursday Night: Took it up to Newberry, MI on the trailer with no cover. Got into some heavy snow between Gaylord and the bridge. Got to Newberry and pulled the sled off the trailer... She was hard to start. Took several tries... but she eventually ran but a little rough at first. Got dressed and went out for a 70 mile ride till 2:30 AM Friday. Ran fine. Parked sled in hotel parking lot, uncovered.
Friday Morning After sitting outside uncovered in single digit temps started right up. Ran great. Rode 150 miles. Shut the sled down and re-started her maybe 10+ times during the ride. No problems.
Friday Night/Saturday AM: Sled sat outside. Uncovered. Snowed about 1". Bitter Cold. Saturday AM about 9. Started up immediately no problem. Went out and rode for about 25 miles.
Saturday PM: Loaded sled onto trailer. Put on full cover. Drove about 5+ hours to Highland Michigan. Snowy conditions. For the last hour or so it was sleeting, rainy, misty, wet and sloppy. Got home late. Left sled outside overnight with cover on (probably a bad idea, it rained and sleeted on and off all night, but I was tired and it was late).
Sunday AM: Pulled sled off of trailer. Would not start. Battery cranked strong. Would not start. Could not hear fuel pump running.
Sunday PM: Tried again. Still no start. Do not hear fuel pump running.
Monday PM: Pulled off fuel pump relay brought into house to dry out (but it didn't look wet and the contacts were clean).
Will re-install tonight (Tuesday) and re-try to start. Any ideas?
If TORS is activated or "malfunctioning" will it also keep engine form starting and not allow the fuel pump to be energized?

Put the relay back in. Fuel pump did not run. Engine did not start. May try a new relay.

- Bought a new 05 Vector which I still have
24K miles
Send a PM to "grizztracks" and see what he thinks you should do. I think if you have a TORS issue you'd be showing a code on your gauge. Stupid question = does your fuel pump have a fuse in the fuse block?
Is your throttle cable moving freely?

I FIGURED IT OUT (2 weeks ago, got the parts last week)... The fuel pump relay (in the left foot well) was fine. Tested it with 12V source and VOM, it closed normally. The fuel pump ground was fine, also tested with VOM. Shorted the connector (faking a closed relay) and the fuel pump would run but the sled would not start. So I traced the circuit back to the starter relay... There was the problem. The relay is not only the starter relay but also a distribution block for the ignition and fuel system. The connector is a POS. It's like an indoor connector you would find inside a desktop PC. It was not sealed in any way. Water (probably salted, open trailer) had been dripping onto the relay and had rotted out the spade lugs. There was green fuzz everywhere and one of the spades was just about rotted thru. Put a new relay on and HEAVILLY greased and rust inhibited the connector before hooking it back up.... turned the key and VROOOOOOMMMMMMM..just as it should be!!! Runs like a top.
There's a couple other "not ready for the open environment" connectors in that area to. cleaned and greased those as well.
I will post pics when i get them off my old phone.
The starter relay is on the oil tank side of the battery bracket. CHECK YOUR OUT IMMEDIATELY. This could let you down on the trail and i can pretty much guarantee that every 4-stroke Yami will have this issue eventually.
We got about 10" of snow in SE MI during Stupid Bowl Sunday and after the game i went out an rode with 2 buddies until 2:30 AM all over... Island lake State Rec ROCKS. The blue trail is great. Not a lot of speed but real fun. Lots of cool ridges to run and hills to go up and down... awesome place to go ride.
Now I just gotta fix the pushing.... thing pushes like a dump truck to the point of embarrassment..Huge gas station with hard packed snow and ice... could not turn 180 in the space., sled darts around like a mexican jumping bean to the point of being actually scary. I got a complete Bergstrom setup coming: 8" triple points, ski savers, rubber ski stops and contour bars... Scot Bergstrom is THE MAN. Also going to check ski toe in-out.

Adjust your transfer rod more towards Min than Max. Using the supplied tool, I ran mine 2 to 3 lines towards Min. This reduces pitching fore and aft, keeping the skis weighted while cornering. SMOOTH throttle inputs are critical to good cornering with a 4 stroke. And yes, Scott is the man! I've been using his products for over 20 yrs.

Viper-Dave... Good hint on the transfer rod. When you say "min" do you mean with more threads showing or less threads showing?

Thank you Steiner. Yes, fewer lines = less pitching. It will reduce traction on takeoff, but it's well worth it IMHO. You're going to like the Bergstrom setup! I've run the same exact setup for 8 yrs. on my Attak. The contours are very simple but effective . Let us know how this turns out!!

Thanks all.. I'm kind of a newbie to sleds. This Attak is my 1st wholly owned sled (and I am 57 yo, and call me crazy but I go out and ride with guys 1/2 my age). I refuse to allow my age to compromise my immaturity. I have done a bunch of dirt biking, road motorcycling, and mountain biking and skiing my whole life so the "flying through the air without a whole lot of stuff" sports come kind of natural too me.
I should get the Bergstrom set-up maybe by tomorrow... Hope to throw it on Saturday AM and go give it a whirl. Scott is a great guy to talk to and I hear nothing but GLOWING reviews about the products he develops and markets.

Just got the full setup from Scott Bergstrom. Triple Points with 8" of Carbide, Shims & Contour Bars. Got the Triple points on... OMG.. All of a sudden my sled is a Slot Car... It goes around corners like it's on rails. Darting is nearly gone. Need to get the shimed "ski rubber pads" on and the contour bars next but that will probably wait until the summer rebuild.
I HIGHLY recommend Bergstrom Triple Points. They are awesome.

Oh yeah... and Scott threw in the shimmed rubber ski pads and the contour bars for free and he had them all in stock and I got them 2 days after I ordered them.

Ok... In all fairness... the Woodies dualies I took off were totally played....But I am still only using Bergstrom's from now on.

Hands down the Bergstrom triples will out perform the dualies, worn or not.Ok... In all fairness... the Woodies dualies I took off were totally played....But I am still only using Bergstrom's from now on.
What are the contour bars? Can't seem to find them on his site.
