Hello I am new here. I would like some information. I am looking to purchase a new sled tommorrow. I have a chance to buy a left over 2007 apex rtx for $7500 or a new 13 for $11,500. I guess the 07 has fox floats while the new 13 has regular shocks. My question which is faster throughout the complete range including top end since I ride Canada quebec and ride with Etec 800's. Are these Apex sleds as quick as the 800 etecs? if not whats it take to pull an etec on top? Also I understand that the 13 apex eats hi fax runners according to the yamaha dealer on the 13. Can some one give me a review on this sled.
I sold a 2012 800 pro r Polaris in November. also Looking at the f1100 cat turbo limited but read lots of belt issues.
info appreciated thanks!

I'd get the 13. If you ride the 13 for 1 season it will be worth about 10. If you ride the 07 for 1 season you will lose way more than that. It is a 6 year old sled.

I would get the 13,as far as eating hyfax there are many options out there now.......just curious as to why you would only keep the polaris for one year?

My 06 rtx with slight mods to clutch runs ahead (just) of a 12 800 etec. He is always two litres better at the pumps...... But he has to run 91 and I run 87

What clutch mods do you have in that 06 rtx and what gearing?
I also have a chance to buy the 2010 apex (new) for $9,800. I sold the pro r 800 because I got my #*$&@ kicked on top end by the etecs on long quarter mile runs in canada.

Lower gears in the XTX....power stearing is worth $5000 by itself. 07 RTX have terrible top end. Geared low!!!

Ok guys thanks for info. I will be making a purchase tomorrow. One last question if i buy the 13 and do a clutch kit will this rob the top end? also how many studs for the 13 with 128" track and what type of scags eliminates the darting?

You want top end keep the stock clutching and only 102 studs (2 per row) and snow trackers for the runners. And with power steering....what darting?

Yamaha has clutched the Apex very well. Try it out first before. Good luck and have fun. If you haven't had a ripsaw track before, they work great with no studs on Quebec trails or northern Ontario.
