Can anyone tell me what the factory sets both front limiter straps on ?
I belive there are 4 holes and yamaha puts it on hole #2 from top.
Dealer did a service this weekend and left the straps on loosest setting?
(Gables in Cobleskill NY) Also cost me $250 for first service and replace
slides which were burnt up. Thought that was pricey.
700 miles so far.

I could wrong, but I thought there was 5 holes and stock it came in the middle one.

With this sled, my preference is to run the limiter strap in the tightest hole.

There are 5 holes and mine came in the top hole, loose. Be careful these skids cause failure in the straps very quickly. mine snapped at 1600 miles! check back a page on this apex talk and you can read many posts on this. Mine are still on B/O but should be in Monday. I don't like trail riding without the straps. Rex I will try tightning up another hole as well and loosen the skid shock even more. Doug

I run mine in the tightest hole as well. I love it!

I pulled mine down one from stock. I still has one to go. With the talk of failing straps, Id think running it to tight would put undo stress on the strap. It made a big difference in the handling, so I'll take my chances and keep an eye on the strap

How much does yammi charge for those straps? Myne are already starting to shred and of course dealer said dont worry about it completely normal. I know better.

sorry for all the q's.
I'm going to pull out the manual but any tips on tightening the straps?
Is it a easy job do u need to put any pressure on the suspension to
get to the last hole?

It is fairly easy to adjust the straps, but you do want to put a little load on the front of the skid.

One way to do this is to put something (relatively small) under the front of the track to help compress the front end.

You can either lie down beside the sled with a pair of 10mm wrenches, or use a lift and lower the sled down on something under the front of the track.

I don't think tightening the strap leads to strap failure, but a weak center shock definitely does.

My straps broke around 4000 km (2500 miles) the first time and shortly after that I revalved and rebuilt my front shock.

I now have over 9000 km on the sled and the straps are still in good shape.
