Lights and gages do not come on until the turns over it's a safety issue so you don't drain the battery. Either your carb bowls are dry and the system needs to be primed or the old gas sitting in the carb bowls has lost it's octane and will not combust. Little bit of fresh gas in the spark plug holes should do the trick..
I was just searching the site and came across your post. Did you get her running? From what I read you had her cranking but not firing, everyone was talking fuel etc... I just was wondering if she was actually cranking or maybe the starter was spinning but not engaging?? I just had that problem and it turned out to be the starter bolts sheered off not allowing the started to engage with the flywheel.
