I posted this on Yamaha Sled Talk:
Hey Chris - do you know if the error code list is the same for ALL Yamaha 4 strokes?
I’ve dug up the Phazer codes and the Apex codes and everything looks the same, but wanted to verify that they are the same for the 2008 Nytro’s.
I had my first error code “43″ today while in the middle of nowhere. The sled would turn-over, but would not start. The engine light and warning light flashed repeatedly indicating a serious issue.
When looking up error code “43″ for the Phazers and Apex motors, it shows that even with this error, the sled should still start and run. It definitely wouldn’t, which is what has me questioning whether the code definitons are the same.
Thanks for your help - dealers closed for the weekend.

Chris responded with:
sorry YK, I don’t know the answer to that off the top of my head, (am guessing they are the same) will check on Monday… am wondering what the actual problem is, you’ll need to get it in to Force One for troubleshooting… cr
I don't suppose anyone with an 08 FX Nytro has a shop manual already do they? If you do, can you look up code 43 for me?
Thanks

I dont know if this would work, but did you try unhooking the battery for a while then hooking it back up to see if it would start?

I cured the problem, or at least delayed it on site.
First I tried the battery disconnect. It didn't work.
Next I pulled every fuse I could find, verified they were good, and then put them back in place. It was after that, that my error code disappeared.

I wish I could help but I'm not that familiar with the 4-strokes.

from my manual, fault code 43 is fuel system voltage (monitor voltage)
power supply to the fuel injectors and fuel pump is not normal.
open or short circut in wire harness/ malfunction in ecu.
says depending on conditions maybe able or unable to start.
the diagnostic code is 09 which states,
fuel system voltage (battery voltage)
displays the fuel system voltage 0-18.7v
normally approx 12.0v
order of checking:
1: connections
fuel injection system relay coupler
wire harness ecu coupler
check the couplers for any pins that may have pulled out. check the locking condition of the couplers. if there is a malfunction, repair it and connect the coupler securely.
2: open or short circut in wire harness.
repair or replace if there is an open or short circut.
between the fuel injection system relay coupler and the ecu coupler.
blue/red-red/blue
******************************************
between the fuel injection system relay coupler and the engine stop switch coupler.
red/white-red/white
******************************************
between the engine stop switch coupler and the main switch coupler
brown-brown
******************************************
3. malfunction or open circut in the fuel injection system relay.
execute the diagnostic mode (code#9)> replace if defective.
note: when the leads are disconnected, the voltage checked by the code 9 is impossible.
disconnect the fuel injection system relay from the wire harness and remove it. connect the pocket tester ()x1 and the battery (12v) to the fuel injection system relay terminals as shown.
(sorry allen i cant draw this for you here)
does the fuel injection system relay have continuity between the red/green and red/blue terminals?
******************************************
all of the above expect my drawing memo is right out of the manual.
if the dealer cant help you pm me your fax number i'll copy and fax these pages to you. sorry i cant be more help. ski

That was awesome help ski - thanks a million.
It hasn't reoccured since re-seating the fuses and a few plugs, so maybe it was one of the couplers coming loose. If it happens again I will bring it back for warranty. Thanks again!
