I was riding my sled today (2008 Yamaha Nytro FX MTX) and code 34 came up.
Do you guys have any idea what might be the problem?

Thanks,

Code 34 is a faulty ignition on Apex model.

I ad a code like this on my apex in early winter and it was my battery...too low voltage,it was below 12 volt .Suggest you check your battery with a volt meter and charge your battery.

"34"means it's summer !!! give me a rest!!!!!

in the fuel injection section
FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM FI
ECU SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
The ECU is equipped with a self-diagnostic function in order to ensure that the fuel injection system is operating
normally. If this function detects a malfunction in the system, it immediately operates the engine under
substitute characteristics and the warning light and self-diagnostic warning indicator on the LCD flash to alert
the rider that a malfunction has occurred in the system. Once a malfunction has been detected, a fault code is
stored in the memory of the ECU.
• If a malfunction is detected in the system by the self-diagnostic function, the ECU provides an appropriate
substitute characteristic operation, and the warning light and self-diagnostic warning indicator on the LCD
flash to alert the rider of the detected malfunction.
• The lowest fault code number appears on the odometer/tripmeter/engine speed meter LCD. Once a fault
code has been displayed, it remains stored in the memory of the ECU until it is deleted.
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION TABLE
If the ECU detects an abnormal signal from a sensor while the snowmobile is being driven, the warning light
and self-diagnostic warning indicator on the LCD flash to alert the rider that a malfunction has occurred and
the ECU provides the engine with alternate operating instructions that are appropriate for the type of malfunction.
When an abnormal signal is received from a sensor, the ECU processes the specified values that are programmed
for each sensor in order to provide the engine with alternate operating instructions that enable the
engine to continue to operate or stop operating, depending on the conditions.

Thanks guys for your response.

Do I need to delete the code?
and if so how do I do it?

Thanks,

Is your sled running good now?...what did you do to fix it?

If the problem fix the code should disappear.

No it didn't do it.

I recharged the battery and still get the same error.

Any other ideas what might be wrong?

Thanks,

Well like the code said faulty ignition on #2 cylinder, switch coil place to see if you get another code,if it does change the coil for a new one.

I switched coil places and i still have the same code.
Any other ideas?

Mike

Check everything that is related to fire, check spark plug and changed for new one or changed place,it must be something stupid.check wire coil also if not short on frame.cut tie rap and check wire.

Hoe does your sled run when you fire ed up? run good or mist fire on one cylinder? tell us more.

If you swapped coils and still get a "34" then it has to be a problem on the input side of the coil. Did you look for a chaffed wiring leading up to the coil? If the wiring is good, then the connector to the ECU should be checked. If that is making a good connection, then the ECU could be acting up. It could be acting up because an input to it has a wiring problem or the ECU could be going bad.

To check for a good connection across a connector, use a volt meter and look for voltage across the connector (i.e. connect one voltmeter probe on each side of the connector. If there is any voltage, then the connection is bad.)

ecu

thanks guys,

I tried the ECU in another Nytro and the same error came up. So the ECU must be bad.
Is it possible to fix it at all? reflash it? or do I need to buy new ECU?

Thanks,
Mike

Great tips, thank you very much.
b.t.w: I'm new around here :}
