Hello,

I am simply crushed, about two months ago I purchased a 2008 NYTRO FX...Did some local riding at a local forest preserve, it was fabulous...

Stored it in the garage, started it to make sure it ran, etc...2 days later towed it up to Eagle River Wisconsin for a weekend of snowmobiling - yes it was very cold - I think it went down to -5F one evening...

The sled was DEAD and I mean dead...

1) The LCD display did not turn on...
2) There were no clicks, rattles, sighs, coming from any part of the sled...
3) Purchased a brand spanking new battery, after taking the old one in to get it tested - it was dead...Replaced it, the sled was still dead...No LCD display, nothing...
4) Towed it back home, put it back in the garage, heated the garage up to be above 32F and the thing is as dead as dead can be...

Have been searching the internet & I found this site...

I have been reading here and I must say I am discouraged by all the problems these sleds seem to have...

Didn't know about the relays up in Eagle River, I guess I will be looking at that this week/weekend...Not sure what else it could be...

If any of you have any suggestions, pointers, anything would be appreciated...

Thanks

I'm not asking this to be a dick but, to rule out the obvious, did you hit the kill switch by mistake? I've done it myself and freaked at first thinking my battery was dead. If the kill switch is down, nothing comes on, not even the LCD.

Morning,

Yeah, looked/felt for that first...

so you have checked the battery for proper charge and a good connection to the relays?

starter relays get wet / frozen hair drier and a few taps viola

Yup,Sounds like the starter relay. Put pet screen on your screens too help keep the snow out,I did this and I have 1000 miles of trouble free riding. ( knock on wood )

I just had my wiring harness replace, there was a short in it someplace.
I had the Y.E.S. so the $750.00 was covered.
But you'd use it one day and the next day, dead, nothing, not a click.
Batteries were not usable.

Yup that's isolated...Unlike the hand warmer and sub frame issues that Yami wont admit to...Whoops did I say that outloud?

Thanks everyone, my brother is checking all of these things out...

There is an upgrade on the sled (for the life of me I cannot remember what it is) but he called those people and they said they just had 2 Nytro's into their garage and they went through the sleds with fined tooth combs, everything checked out...

But low & behold they "jiggled" the wiring harness and the sleds both started running...

The ended up replacing the harness on each of the sleds...Perhaps these are 2 of the 5 yamaha admitted too...

Anyway, he is going to be checking, he has been cleaning all the connections, and "greasing" them up...

I shall keep you all updated...
