Finally got the opportunity to get my new to me 08 NYTRO out for a run.. Sled is a 121" ripsaw with 96 studs. I removed stock skis and installed the Yamaha wide skis off a Apex mountain and flipped the rubbers around. Front shocks are GYTR adjustable (all settings at the middle) rear skid set in the middle. Sled was terrible to ride, tore me up trying to control it. Hated the ride so much almost put a for sale sign on it....I sold my 06 APEX RTX for this and I wish I hadn't ......Help me sort out the sled..... The reason I installed the mountain skis is because I have a 136x1.75 track, rails and tunnel extension I was going to install.

I bought my 2008 nytro last season. Over the summer I pulled the front limiter straps up one hole and took 90% of the preload off the centre skid shock. This made the sled a lot more compliant in the small trail trash bumps I usually encounter. This also put more pressure on the skis and in turn made it bite better when steering. I also have ski-doo pilot skis (2 carbide runners per ski) and installed new woody's carbides. This season I have mostly driven in endless powder, with some groomed trails and I notice quite a difference on the groomed trails. My clickers are set to the softer side, with rebound somewhere around the middle setting.
Try going full soft on comp. Adjusters and stiffen up one click at a time until you get it where you want it. Also the rebound clickers you want set so that the shock extends back up after a bump without feeling like a pogo stick. Fine line, and one click is all it takes.

Have no experience with your track lenght, but like ns fx nytro said : unwind the centre shock in skid so the spring is loose, then tighten 2 revolutions after it just starts to snug up on the spring. Front shocks-take some preload of the spring. In my opinion, that sled likes a dual keel ski, like a tuner. I have split rails and it makes a huge difference if you are a trail rider.
Don't get too vicious with the limiter strap. Try loosening the centre shock first and see how the skis grip, if it's still loose and sloppy bring it up one hole but always back the centre shock right off, and snug up the ring and apply two revolutions
Good luck
Ms

Work with the suspension set up, it'll come around & hope you'll be happier.
Trial & error.
Tuners with double 4" Woodys, 75lbs in my floats & skid set up about medium, Good ride for me.

You are going to have to work at the setup. There is a ton of info on this site that will be a lot of help. After riding other brands, one thing I found with the Nytro was that every time you change something on it, it drastically changes how it rides. Just take your time and don't get lost in adjustments! I like everything I've done to my sled, I just would like to shave 80 lbs. off the engine!

I met a guy today on the trail and he just bought a used 2010 Nytro XTX with 4500kms on it. After a couple of rides he hates it and it is for sale. I told him about what he can do to make it handle better, but he thinks it is impossible to improve. Oh well, his loss, someone else's gain.

I must say my new to me 09 Nytro is not dialed in for my liking either! My main concern is excessive ski pressure, on the trailer and or my asphalt driveway this sled just spins, and with the studs its killing my concrete pole barn floor too! At gas stations I have to bounce on the running boards to transfer weight to the rear suspension to try and get traction. Im about 180lbs in all my gear, traction out of the hole is no good on any condition. .....lots of spinning before it hooks, I feel I'm getting zero weight transfer. I've been reading alot of posts on here so I'm fairly versed on the subject and been riding for years, but never had a sled so far out of whack on the suspension set-up! My limiter strap is all the way out and still no transfer, my front shocks must have a ton of pressure. I'm going to unthaw this pig and see what all my clickers and springs are set at tonight.

That's the total opposite of how my sled was set up when I bought it used. I had so much transfer if you touched the throttle when you tried to turn it would just plow straight ahead. The headlights were either in the tree tops of on the ground right in front of the sled. How stiff are the skid shocks?

Check your skis for correct toe out should be 1/4"-1/2" your preference. Make sure your front and rear suspension setups are in balance. Search for suspension 101 for reference in this forum. Here it is http://www.ty4stroke.com/threads/suspension-tuning-101.133332/

I had same problem. Don't really know much bout sleds but learning quickly. Purchased a Used 2010 nytro xtx. I almost sold it until I read posts on here. I adjusted center shock almost all the way down until spring was snug. Mine felt like it was really rocky and high centered(tipsy). Adjust front shocks a few clicks back from totally soft and rebound around center. Also noticed one of my skis were bent a little bit and toed in. Purchased new ski and Adjusted rear shock to middle setting. After doing these few things it rides and corners sooooo good now. Next I'm having CMP suspensions rebuild all my shocks and set them to me and my riding. And I just purchased new oilette bushing kit for front end. Noticed there was quite a bit of play in front end components. Hope this helps too

. All new oilite bushings Tie rods and ball joints good and tight. Guess I just need to start by adjusting the toe and set up rear skid. Then the compression and rebound. Thanks for all the suggestions and replies...Check front end. May need ball joints/bushings. make sure alignment is 1/2in out. and just play around with shock settings youll get there

You will figure it out just get it close and tweak from there. You will love it once you get it setup right.
