2009 Nytro Limiter Strap Thoughts

Had limiter strap break (bottom from rubbing on track in the usual spot). I replaced with conveyor belting as suggested her and I notice some wear after 300 miles. I do not have the plastic spacers so I plan to make some to hold the strap in the middle of the track cog.

My question for the group, when I redo the limiter strap do we think there is any value in adding a piece of metal strapping under the bottom bar (over the belting)?

What are the potential issues you see?

My thought is to add strapping and use the same nut/bolt that we use to tighten up the bottom belting. I already doubled up the side as was mentioned.

What model sled. I broke way too many on my XTX and then decided to go my own route and made a 3rd strap for the middle. Never had a problem since. At $25 each, i started making the stock location 2 also, but went back to the stock ones when I added the center one . By the way, you will seperate your front shock if your ride with broken limiter straps....so be very aware!

As for keeping the straps in place, i literally used Gorilla tape wrapped 4 or 5 times around the cross bar on each side of the strap. Dont laugh, its way better then what was on it stock!!
I just took a pic and will post once I resize it......and realized i do still have my home made ones on in the stock position

Really cool idea... no issues with too much belt and risk of breaking / bending metal? I put a new one on each season when I see wear, never had an issue with stock straps, I think mine has 2x the ss hardware... will have to check.

I just had to replace both a little while ago. Bought one factory replacement and realized I should have replaced both at the same time. Got a universal strap and that was shot after 100 miles. I'll stick with the stock ones and simply keep and eye on them after every ride

I replaced the lower aluminium rod with metal and welded two tabs with holes that the lower strap bolt went through to keep straps in the proper position and not rub on track when suspension compressed

Absolutely zero issues since adding the custome center strap. Anyone that has ridden wth me, knows I pound the sled hard. It simply spreads out the load so the 2 stock straps dont take the entire hit.
As for OEM straps, i found that the bolt holes dont always match up from one strap to the other. So if you buy a set, be sure they do before installing them. If one is slightly tighter than the other, it will most likely break prematurely. Thats one of the reasons I still have the 2 homemade straps in the stock position.....i was careful to make all the holes line up as they should.
