Hi, I just recently purchase two 2009 Phazer Mtx. 350 miles each. One of them makes a knocking type sound when riding. I can hear it a lot at low speeds at 10-15mph. I tighten the track, adjusting the crank chain tension and checked the belt and it still does it. At idle I can rev it up and hear no noise. Just starts when I riding it. Any other suggestions on what it might be or what I should check next? Thanks

You have 10 year old sleds with 350 miles on them (to state the obvious). I bet those skids would enjoy some attention, I'd clean and grease anything that moves. Even if that doesn't fix your noise it will be time well spent.

Check the jackshaft and driveshaft bearings, especially the latter. When it fails, it makes a racket and can take out your speedo sensor out at the same time. Take the seals off and check them out, especially for rust, if they sat a long time with possible water in them. They should be regreased every season. How's the chaincase oil and its bearings? Adjust the chain tension. For easier reverse engagement, adjust it to barely finger tight.

Like @YukonMP said, the skid should be taken out and all the idler wheels and suspension points checked and greased. The top wheels have a tendency of seizing/freezing and getting a flat spot worn into it.

If the noise is worse when going slow, but goes away as you go faster, then you have a burnt spot on your drive belt.

try the belt 1st. if it still does it you are into the bearings next.
