I went with 171 down the middle in a 4-2-4-2 pattern. Used double backers for the 4's. This is the same as 144 on a shorty and I think you need it with this kind of hp and instant acceleration. Good luck.

Well.....that was stage 1. The turning wasn't exactly stellar before the studs and it certainly didn't get any better, so ask me again after the C@A Razors go on this winter. The key with these kinds of mods is balance. I knew I would have to address the front after doing the back. The pattern is the 144 down the middle one you can find in a lot of places ie. Woody's website. I've been studding sleds long enough that I just went at it trying to create as many scratch lines as possible.
Would studding on the outer edge of the track help turning at all? I run 114 down the middle on a modified woody's pattern. This is on my XTX.
If studding on the outer edge would improve handling, I may look into that. Then again maybe it would be more detrimental to track life than it's worth.
Thanks

It will decrease handling and descrease track life, but will help in acceleration. Great for drag racing, Not recommended for trail riding.
Thanks SledFreak.

Im one of the few who believe that outside bar studding helps more than traction and actually helps turning...
go to scott bergstroms website bergstrom skegs and read what he has to say pretty interesting in short woodys has flip flopped for years on this issue...I believe their last position not to stud the outside bars has to do with their relationship with camoplast and the warranty on predrilled etc..
not sure on how this affects a 136 and up track but for the first time ever I didnt stud the outsdie bars on my attak and regretted it..
as to the 144 xtx still not sure but know front ski changes will definately need to be made as always..

You will need tunnel protectors when you go with 1.45 studs. Trust me. Ask my old exhaust
As far as the 08's, this has been covered a million time. You can ride an 08 RTX like a hot dateRide her slow, and be conservative, and she feels out of place. This sled WANTS to be ridden hard in the turns
back to the 1.450's....asking for input, it seems like if you dont stud in the middle 4-5 inches of the track...this would be a non issue?
