2010 Vector - What do you guys think?

I think I'm done buying new sleds as the prices are outrageous. You'd think that bringing the same product out year after year without significant innovations would cut costs and thus the selling price.

You got it Grimm. My nytro was the first and last spring order sled for me ... especially the way prices are going. I usually buy brand new non-current models and will be going back to that way of buying on the next one. A leftover 2011 will probably be the next one.

I like the FI but why not put the nytro motor in the chassis instead????

I think it is the FX Nytro motor but detuned? :dunno:

They both (Nytro and Vector) have FI 1049cc engines....

Guys and gals,

Lets not forget the 4 year extended warranty they are giving out with the 2010's. That cost has to come from somewhere. When you take that into account along with the upgrades, suddenly the upcharge doesn't seem quite so stiff. What other manufacturer offers 5 years of warranty coverage? None that I can find. You cant even buy more than 3 years of coverage on a new Doo. I know because a friend just bought one and the longest contract offered through BRP is a 2 year plus the standard first year. Doens't say much for their confidence in their own product.

I bet you buy all the $39 extended warranties on the $29 electronics products you buy. ;)!

I absolutely LOVE my '09 Vector GT, and I was convinced I was done with other brands, and 2S. Wanted the FI motor for replacement on the IQ next year, but at 12 - 13 G's, these guys are nuts. I won't ever pay that for a sled - period. I will by E-TEK Skidoo before I spend that. Sorry Yamaha, you are blowing it big time at that price.

$700 to cover against breakdown or defects for 5 full years on a $10,699 piece of equipment sounds like pretty much a no-brainer to me.

Why they heck would they de-tune it???

They changed the valve timing and something else? I guess to get better economy and improve emissions. The changes lower hp a little.

But what does Yami's extended warranty cover? Not much and too many gray areas. My dealer sells Yam-Doo-Poo and says that while Yami ext. warranties are the cheapest, they also cover the least amount of issues....BY FAR.

The new Vector GT's are nice, but they are not $10,000+ machines even with a warranty. The Vector LTX GT is a solid $9,200 sled IMHO. The $10K range should be where the Apex fits in.

Ya, I think its priced kind of high also. But of all the trail sleds they offer this model looks good, great motor, improved rear suspension, they put the better gauge on it. Of all they are offering I like this model but wish it could of lost weight.

Those of you that have a Vector in db2 chassis do you feel the lower motor mounting point versus an Apex makes it turn better and handle better?

This makes sense, especially considering the difference in markets the two sleds would be going after...

I just priced a 2009 Doo GSX LTD short track with the 1200 4-tec on doo.com at $10849. A 2009 Cat Z1 LXR short track is $10199. I'd say Yamaha is not out of line in regards to the competition with the pricing of the Vector. Let's face it, snowmobiling is an expensive hobby!

Doo.com obviously doesn't use "local" real time dealer prices. I can get an 09 GSX Ltd. for $8,800 today if I want one. A friend just bought a leftover new 2007 Z1 for $6,500.

I'll have to call to see if I can get 2010 Vector price yet.
