Looking at everything that Yamaha has done on their sleds I think overall they listened finally....but dam that price, its like buying a honda civic.

Anyways, I have a 2006 Yamaha ATTAK with about 5,000 miles on it. I take care of it and it is still a great sled. I really have only two major complaints. 1 are the hand warmers and two is the stupid rear mono shock. I sent the mono shock to Carver performance and I was so disappointed. I have heard such great things but for me......I feel like they gave me back my old shock and did not do a thing to it??? Anyone else have this issue?? It cost me about $100 + to have the mechanic remove it, shipping costs, insurance, cost for the revalve and then reinstall.....I bottom out about 20 plus times per trip.
Anyways, looking at the new 2011, the one upgrade I would really consider is spending the money to get the big rear mono float shock. Think it would fit??.

I agree Fishinyak, Yamaha did listen to many complaints. I also agree your sled is still merely middle aged and will run much longer.

1. For cold hands, get 2007 Attak handle bars and Rock's Yamaheater. Your hands will roast. Amazing what a difference. One of Yamaha's cold hands problems I believe is the aerodynamics tend to direct cold air rights at your hands, so also wear guantlets on really cold days, just to keep the cold air off.

2. Carver. Call Mike Carver up about your shock problems. He is really good. Something must have gone wrong, maybe relaying your personal information (weight, riding style, etc.) or some thing like that.

IMO, your shock issue is most likely a spring issue, not a revalve issue. The spring is what holds the weight of the sled. Are you a big guy? If you weigh over 250 or more you need a larger spring. no revalving in the world can solve that issue. But then again, Carver should have put a different spring on it when he had it for you. Would have been better customer service!

3. I completely agree that a Fox Float in the rear of the Mono would rock!!!!

As long as the center to center measurements are the same, and as long as the shock fits in the allowed space down in skid, the Fox Float should bolt right in......

One issue with Floats I know is sometimes they don't have long enough flanges on the ends so they don't fit into some skids. For instance, I could not fit Floats into the rear of my Mnt Viper because of this very issue, and instead I opted for Ohlins.

So for the Mono 1) either the Fox Float fit, 2) Yamaha changed something, or 3) Fox made the Flanges longer for the new Float shock...

For a hundred bucks maybe all ya got was a recharge of the shock. If they did all you say it would have cost much more. I have heard guys talk about hygear, and they charge way more. The new spring alone is nearly 100 bucks. revavle and recharge another 100. so it sounds like you did not get what you thought. and this is Pioneer pricing. Hygear is much higher! Once the correct spring with revavle is in, You will love it!
