Anybody ever broke the Ohlins shock in the rear of their Mono? Broke mine earlier in the week and ended the trip early...... for that sled anyway, rode the spare the rest of the trip (good ol' reliable SRX!). Looks like the shock shaft is bent, which also caused the shock body to break and all the oil to pour out, not pretty!! Anyone else have this happen?
Any luck getting it covered under YES warranty? Sled is at dealer now being "evaluated".
And yes, I had the shock rebuilt and revalved by Hygear not too long ago...got the "Improver" package which included rebuild/revalve of front and rear shock. Hygear mentioned a known issue with the older Ohlins in the Mono's, 2006-7.
Just looking for thoughts.

If you can get Yamaha to cover the shock, excellent. Otherwise, send it in to bjowett from the site and he'll rebuild the shock for you, get it working again. But really him, Carver, Pioneer, or Hygear could fix the damaged shock/ repalce the damaged parts.
What did you hit that made the shaft bend?

Wasnt jumping.....didnt hit anything major. Went over a bump in a frozen lake....and WHAMMO! Luckily did not have to ride too long to get it off the lake. It did rub some spots on the inside center of my track.
Still at the dealer being evaluated and they are waiting to hear back from Yamaha on the warranty claim.
What is the difference with these two part #'s? It is from the fiche for a 2010 Apex LTX.
8GV-47480-00-00 SHOCK ABSORBER 0 (which is the same for my '07 Attak on the parts fiche)
8HD-47480-01-00 SHOCK ABSORBER 1 (which is a 2nd listing on the parts fiche)
