- 2011 Apex SE
I have done the mods to my Apex that claimed to bring the power output to 162 hp or close to that. Running Ulmer PC5 with Ulmer airborne mod also geared down to a 23 top gear with Ulmers full clutching. Now I know the 2011s were a few pounds heavier than a say 06 Apex RTX. What gets me is even with my mods a 06 RTX with ram air lid 3 degree timing key and 23 top gear pulls my SE especially above 100 mph. Even in a roll on race a 09 Nytro rtx gave me a good race till about 85 or so. I have owned 3 Apexs now a 06 RTX 09 LTX and 11 Apex SE. I know my 09 with Ulmers PC3 and ign module with drag n flies was the fastest 118 gps. I'm debating pulling everything off and seeing how the sled goes compared to the 06 RTX. I would think with around 10 more horsepower and the benefits of EXUP I should pull the rtx especially in the mid range but even a roll on race the two are about dead even till like I said around 100 and the rtx starts walking me. What gives? Any advice?

Sounds like your mods have sent you backwards.

Check your EXUP adjustment and go back up in gearing. May 12 129" did not like gearing down!

I have the exact two sleds the same as you with Ulmer mods on the SE(pc5, clutch and air box) with the same kind of results. The SE being fifty pounds heavier with the PS is difficult to make up. Actually with the air box opened up the sound was very annoying and I went back to stock.

I second inspecting the operation of your EXUP. The cables can break over time and knock it out of adjustment.
