2011 Apex skid rust

I would wait until next spring, remove the skid, clean up the rust (I sandblasted mine) and put on a coat of auto rock guard. I did mine 2 yrs ago and still mint. Far cheaper than powder coat.

I have my "New to Me" Attak torn apart for improvements ect.
I purchased a new reinforced front arm and cleaned up the rust from rear arm then painted them both with silver rust paint. I also added some other new components...duponts, mega float 8" rears ect...

Great job on the skid, looks awesome! ;)!

Curious, your small outside front wheels don't look like Yamaha wheels like the rear inner small ones so I am curious what those are and if the diameter is larger than the Yamaha ones?

The front wheels are a leftover anti-stab kit I purchased many years ago for my Mod 866 VMax 4 snow dragster...never used them so I decided to put them on my Attak skid.
I think I originally got the kit from Wahls.

Ok, for anyone complaining their "Yamaha" skid is rusting, got news for ya, the skids on Ski-poo, Polaris & AC all rust if subjected to salt!!! It's not a poor paint issue, its just the way it is. My 2006 Attak has pretty much zero rust on the skid but I am no where near roads, strictly snow.
I was just at a buds mancave & he was showing me his AC skid he was going to sell because he bought a different one. I says to him, are you gonna paint that? It looked like crap, rusted bad, lol!!!

I always fluid film every thing I have that's metal and going to be exposed to salt and corrosive environments. Any kind of rust proofing goes a long way. ;)!

X2, and although Fluid Film is excellent for off season storage, I periodically use Rust Check or Krown rust prevention spray periodically during the season.

Fluid Film is excellent, it's just pricey where I live to constantly have it wash off during the season.

Just noticed that Fluid Film os on sale for $9.49 (reg $15.99) in the TSC flyer (Canada). Might have to try it out.

I don't know if anyone is complaining really. It's just that it's nice to take care of your stuff. From what I have seen of the members here, we all seem to like to do the extra things to keep things looking nice.

This sport allows us some down time as well, and if we have a chance to stare at a toy long enough, we will see something in need of improvement that we can "make better" before the next time we use it.

Like I just posted on HardCore Sledder in the trailer section. I wanted to know the best way to remove rust, prep and paint the wheels on my Triton trailer. They are showing a bit of rust. They are cheap to replace and probably cheaper to replace than powder coat.

So I will pull them, strip them a bit and paint them. Hell, I may buy some 8" golfcart hubcaps to pimp it out a bit.

Nice work on that Skid in the previous post too. From a guy who paid for the beef up and powder coat, that is a sweet job that nobody will notice but you. But that was good enough for me. I knew it looked good on the trailer, and covered in ice at the trail side bar!! HA!
