Questions about 2011 Yamaha Apex SE

So I made up my mind last march to spring order a 2011 Apex SE. This sled is well put together, and it sounds awesome. But I have a few question about the sled.
1) Yesterday I started it up, put it on a stand and spin the track a few times. All in all the sled was running about 10 minutes, then I notice that the fan came on. When do the fan come on? When the temperture is half way through it's temperture range? 3/4 of the way?
2) I have notice some pictures on this site of a 2011 apex with a extra set buggies wheels in the back of the skid. Why was ths installed?
3) Are you guys following the manual for the break in period?

first 100mi, under 6,000rpm
first 300mi, under 8,000rpm
I said to myself I would follow the break in procedures. I failed, miserably.

If these are your intentions, I wish you the best of luck. Don't let the ol' 4 cylinder tell you otherwise. It is pretty convincing though...
