What has anyone done to bypass or remove the EXUP on their sled? I am getting ready to adjust mine (thanks for the video Mr. Sled) however I am wondering while I am in there if I shouldn’t just bypass/remove the thing. Seems like it could more of an issue then a benefit.
I may be wrong too and it is something that should be left alone. I am very open to feedback.

When my cable broke, it was the return or closing cable. I adjusted the cable that opens the valve as tight as I could, thus leaving the valve in the open position. Rode 4 days at the 1st TY ride in January. When I got home and went to replace the broken cable, it was still in the open position. I really couldn't tell any difference with it wide open vs. fully operational.

"EXUP is old technology for Yama-bikers. The system appeared more than two decades ago on a 1987 Yamaha FZR400R"
Effect
1) Realizes elimination of low torque in certain rpm ranges and smooth acceleration all the way up to high speed.
2) Improved actual fuel economy.
3) Improved low-speed range combustion for
(1) more stable idling,
(2) less idling noise and
(3) reduced HC levels in the exhaust.
I guess if it didn't work, yamaha would have ditched it long ago.

The EXUP valve and exhaust is in the neighborhood of $2,600. Yamaha would not have added any of it if there was no benefit.

Well it sounds like something I should keep. Thanks for all the thoughts, I'll check it and make sure it's set correct.

no one has done the bypass to my knowledge other than viperdave adjustment. did ride daves for a bit and attributed any differences in riding to his clutch kit as mine is still oe.
I do know my wr250x came with it and actually it runs better without it but I did replace the silencer on it with the gytr one for the bike.

Exup surely hurt the sales of aftermarket exhaust and headers!

i agree with kviper. why would they add it if it didn't have any benefit. there were many snow mag articles about it and a couple showing the torque/horsepower graph indicating benefits in the midrange were most of us would use it on the trails. i know i'm keeping mine operational.
