Question regarding gutting 2011 apex xtx exhaust

Did you weld it while it was on the sled did you disconnect your battery? Might buy a welder but I'm worried about having to disconnect the battery it's a pain in the #*$&@ thanks

I know that everybody says it's a big no-no to weld with the battery hooked up, but I do it all the time. However, always hook the ground clamp onto, and close to, the piece that you are welding.

I gutted the muffler on my 07 Apex, I didn't unhook the battery. I rode it all last season with no issues. The welder is grounded right on the muffler, can't see how the ground would travel anywhere else.

Mine is gutted on my '13 Apex. I do have the PCV, but have had no issues. 11,ooo+ miles

Curious, disconnecting battery is a PITA but cutting your muffler open and re-welding isn’t lol.

i gutted n welded mine on a 06, truthfully it did not sound good at all louder yes good no!ripped it off shortly after n installed a excell single pipe , not tryin to discourage you but after a few rides it might not be what ya thoght it would sound like!
