Well got a good workout repairing my apex xtx '11. Hit a drainage ditch at about 80km/h, rode it out to try and make it to the other side and just fell short. Folded up like an accordian on the seat, smashed the seat, bent the rails, control arms front and rear, steel shafts were torqued, back end from the grab bar to the end of the seat was folded straight up.

Damage was a bent rear exhanger, which was repaired but went with a new one, the fardest part of all was trying to recreate an extension since no company will manufacture one since there is no need for one I was told. After weeks of scaling, measurements, cutouts, cardboard designs I finally came up with a design to create an extension that used all the same holes on the side of the tunnel itself and kept the same length as far as the tunnel goes. The point where the extension meets the main tunnel was secured so neat and clean, kept under the seat as well so that the only way you could tell something was different was that the warning symbols were not there anymore. It cost me close to 2,000 to get it back to the way it was and after hours and hours it was definently a great time.

Besides being theurapeudic for my back it was a way to keep me from losing my mind from hearing everyone else sled last year. Usually a very careful driver but became to familiar with a particular area and the land was changed over the summer creating a large ditch to which I found on the first ride. Nothing like a crushed vertebrae and 2 fractured ones to keep it in the back of my mind to be cautious at all times.

Pictures of the build and crash site to come soon!!
