Which sled
Do yourself a favor. Analyize yourself then decide. My point is that you have a back problem that will only get worse every year not better. How much pounding can you take? Do you pound rough trails only to keep up with your buddies or would you pound them even if you were riding by yourself? I don't think the pro-active will give you the plush ride of a mono. I have real back issues and am considering an Airwave. I wish I had bought a sled with the Mono instead of purchasing an expensive add on.

When i rode a Vector LTX GT, i thought to my self: 20 hp more and it would be perfection...
but the Apex needs a little more work to handle like the vector, so either a Vector with blower or apex with handling mods..

You definitely have to go with a Apex model with your type of riding. Mine and yours are very similiar. I ride Tug Hill and CNY trails with 2 trips to Quebec every year. The wind protection is much better on a Apex and they are made for Quebec trails. I've ridden there in -40f and you want as much wind protection as you can get!!!! Plus the 150 engine loves the trails and lakes!
I also ride with people with similiar sleds as your friends. I can't keep up with my Attak...on the twisty and bumpy. I don't even try. I feel I have to really pound on my sled to stay with them and I'm not willing to do that. They are heavy! I could ride a Nytro harder on the bumps. Friend has one they are more bump friendly. Now by saying I can't keep up I mean by the time they come to a stop I am pulling up. My sled is pretty well set up too....Shock revavled, different skies, etc.
Who is your dealer? I use Wheel-a-way in Fulton as much as possible as they have always treated me very well. Coming from Marcellus, its a haul to get there but with a Yamaha I've only had to take the sled there once! (I got the clutches rebuilt at 12,000 miles.)

My local dealer is Excell Motorsports in Hubbardsville, NY. Aaron has been great.
Couple of PMs from Upstate / Central NY riders suggesting the standard Apex with a shock job if needed (HYGEAR mentioned by name).
Need to speak with Aaron one more time before I decide.
By all reports either Apex would result in my having a great sled.
