So I did some wrenching on my 2011 apex this weekend.
1.The first thing I love is Yamaha Bolted the Tunnel protectors to the tunnel instead of riveting and welding them. take three nuts off per side and they are out of the sled
2. Like an idiot I over tightened and broke a stud off when I put the protectors back in. I had to take the seat and exhaust covers off to get the broken stud out. I owned a RX-1 and an 2006 attak. You had to remove multiple nuts and bolts to get the seat and Exhaust covers off. Most of the time the fist and finish was never the same after you took them apart. Well Yamaha has hit a home run with this new setup. It's two bolts to get the seat off. the exhaust covers is the real sweet setup. It's a complete unit. You take two bolts out and the entire unit slides off into your hands. It's very sweet. So now that unit never has to be disassemble. the Factor Finish remains the same.
3. I installed my HID head lights this weekend as well. In the past you had to disconnect the Speedo right at the gauge. Now there is a harness the hangs down. Unglug and the two head lights and the head light pod is in your hands.
these refinements make the 2011 apex a dream to work on.

A guy at the shop I get my sled worked on says the new EXUP exhaust is $2200 to replace when the gaskets blow and the clamps wear on the titanium pipes.
