2011 rtx starter abrupt failure?

I've read a bunch and realize there is lots of info on the failure of starters, but just wondering if others have had it just fail over night? Was working fine the day before, kid hit a tree pretty good (destroyed bumper but that's it) started several times the rest of day then next morning it would not turn over. Battery is a bit low, got 12.6v to relay 12.4v to starter but no engagement. The sled only has 500 mi on it. was stored for a few years before I got it and was running fine until this happened.

yup. happened to our 09 this season. started fine one day and the next day it would not even turn over for my brother and i just was in there replacing a stator 3 weeks before.

Maybe the hit loosened the magnets inside. Make sure it's not the battery or the solenoid first.
