I know this topic has been beaten to death but through hours of searching I haven't found a satisfying answer.

I am looking to put extros on my XTX but don't wanna spend the coin on Avids right now. I've considered going with Wahls 8t as it will help gear me down a bit more, I don't have to trim rails/spend more on anti-stab kit, I'm not worried about the loss of efficiency, and it's around $170 for a set I believe.

The option I am really looking at is removing the outer drivers on my drive shaft and adding the OEM ones from the 2013 XTX 1.75. These would be just over $100 for the pair. Looking at the part #s for the driveshaft, rails, etc they all look the same. What is holding me up is that all my research says 9t extros will hit the XTX rails when the suspension cycles. Did Yamaha change the skid mounting location or something to prevent this in the '13s since all the part #s match my 2011 or it is it as simple as using the OEM drivers will solve this problem.

Are you sure the new XTX has extrovert drivers from the factory? I didn't think they put them in...since ratcheting wasn't a problem?

I just looked at the parts fiche. The XTX 1.75" does indeed come with the extros. But just counting the teeth in the picture it looks like they are still 9 tooth. Interesting.

I wonder what the difference is....

My 9t Wahl bros on my '10 XTX definitely rubbed, immediately, and often. Made it out of my garage about 100ft. maybe the OEM' s have a slightly different dimension.

That is exactly my dilemma. Idk what the difference is. Looking at the part #s of the inner drive sprockets. The '11 and '13 XTX have 8BW-47531-00-00 while the '11 and '13 RTX and '13 XTX 1.75 have 8HK-47531-00-00. This tells me they are all 9t as the RTX has 9t drivers. I hope somebody will have an answer as to why these don't rub the rails.

extro

Give port yamaha a call I know they know I was just there a little while back to buy my wahl extro's and they were telling me how the new ones don't hit but I don't remember exactly why.
