I am curious too. I may need to replace the updated bars that are on my 06 GT. Just got the sled and they appear to be bent down a little on the left side. I would also like to know if the grips & heaters can be moved to new bars or if they get damaged during removal.
Grips are riveted at one end and the other end is glued on. I have found that using hot water and a plastic windshield stick will get the grip off without hurting the element or grip.anyone ever replace handlebars. how do they come off? The heater element is glued to the bars. Again hot water and slowly peel back the heater. It takes some time but can be done.
If you have the stock bars on your 06 they are much easier than the others.I am curious too. I may need to replace the updated bars that are on my 06 GT. The grip and heater are one. Remove the hook and the rivets and they should slide off. The rubber might be slightly stuck to the bar but a plastic tool will pry it off without damaging the grip

I believe I might have the 06 upgrade bars. They have the hooked ends with grips that go all the way to the hooks. I don't have the original 06 bars that had separate, non-heated hooks. If you have the stock bars on your 06 they are much easier than the others.

Then you have 07 or newer bars. It will be the same procedure as I described for rossbowe.I believe I might have the 06 upgrade bars. They have the hooked ends with grips that go all the way to the hooks. I don't have the original 06 bars that had separate, non-heated hooks.
Somewhere I have a post about grips and heaters. I will do some searching.
If you can log onto the 2smoke side you can see pics of a 07 bar setup that I did on my old Viper.
