No one sees to know whether there are updates and if there are updates what they are exactly. Surprised they can sell $15k machines without describing what they are selling????

know way, you must mean 5mm bigger or 2.5 lower. 5mm lower would burn right off

This was on AmSnow regarding the "New" skis.
Ok, so maybe it's not totally "TOP SECRET" but the editors here at AmSnow have been in discussions with Yamaha reps regarding their new ski for several of the 2012 sleds.
We recently worked with Yamaha (as did several other select industry media insiders) to determine the best ski choice for their upcoming 2012 model year Deltabox and Nytro trail sleds.
After a recent lunch with the brass at Yamaha snowmobile HQ in southern Wisconsin they told us that our input during our test sessions helped them decide to go with the more aggressive ski choice of the two they were considering. The ski is known as the 8HV.
We will have the full update on this ski and all the other improvements to Yamaha's lineup starting in our Buyer's Guide issue coming out in late August. For now, just know that the new ski gives the new power-steering equipped Vector better handling in the corners. It also will be used on the Apex, RS Venture GT and FX Nytro trail models.
So folks concerned about our past concerns about some of these Yamahas pushing in the corners should be happy to know that a major improvement is being made.

Wheel locations are getting moved slightly to get the track further away from the slides.
It was done on the Nytro XTX's in 2011. Not sure why Yamaha wouldn't follow suit with the 2011 Apex XTX, but they have done other stupid things that make no sense also.
Remember the time they forgot to put grease zerks in the 05"s? Then the next year zerks in but grease would pour out around the zerk! How about years going by without something as easy as decent hand warmers? Oh well, they have to have something wrong every year or we wouldn't keep updating.

This is what I got from Chris at Yamaha. The 2012 might be "all new" i should have waited
Hey Jason, there are no recommended skid modifications between the model years, (you can’t bolt any of the new parts on.) however I understand there are some optional wheel kits under development for low snow / icy conditions which are targeting hy-fax wear issues. Should have some info out to our dealers and on-line before fall. cr

If they know it is an issue then why don't they put a recall on it and fix it. I have bigger wheels on mine and it still happens. I think it has to do more with the placement of the wheels at the correct points.
