The wife put 200 miles on the LTX this weekend, she loves it. With the EPS the 136 is certainly the way to go. It tracks nice and she has no issue turning. I drove it some and must say it is very nice, nice power too. Only one issue, the clutches don't down shift all the way sometimes. When you start from a stop it re-engages with a thump, most of the time it is silky smooth. Never had this on any Yamaha sled before, not sure if it can be adjusted, lubed, or what. Anyone else have this, my Apex engages silky smooth all the time. This is not acceptable in my book.

I believe I have the same problem with my clutch as you. Mine doesn't do it all of the time, I noticed it after I lock up the brakes. I go to take off and it will barely move, clunk, than I'm on my way with no issues unless I happen to lock up the brakes again. I thought it was because of my clutching but it isn't. I talked to Allan at Ulmer Racing where I got my clutch kit and told him what was going on thinking I screwed something up/over torqued something and he told me this condition is normal. Most yamaha's will do this. To me it's not a big deal. Just pay more attention when braking!

Clutch

Yes, exactly. My dealer told me the same thing about locking up the brakes, tried it and yes this will cause it for sure. Normal seems not so normal, I have had many Yamaha's and this is the first one that does this.

going from a sled without reverse to a sled with reverse, I noticed the extra play in the drive. For instance if you roll the secondary back and forth on a Yamaha without reverse, it doesn't move as much as one with reverse. You can feel that when you ride, in some conditions. I don't really notice a thump, but sometimes the belt squeals when I get back on the gas.

Is it possible that the clutch faces are dirty from the belt glaze and that's making it worse or noticeable? New belts that aren't cleaned properly before using can do that.

Clutch engagement clunk

Not sure what the problem is, I have had reverse on all my sleds for the last 10 years, all Yamaha's and never had this one time. Not acceptable in my mind on a sled that retails for $12,000.

I've got an 06 Rage that does the same thing, and a 05 venture with no problems. I remember seeing in an older post that Yami uses "grooved" clutch weights on some models to get them to rev up a bit before they engage, to make them feel snappier I guess? I was actually thinking of putting RS Venture weights on the Rage to make putting along at low speeds a little smoother. Can anyone out there validate this?

Locking up the track will cause the belt to run low in the secondary clutch. There is some slop in the secondary with reverse so perhaps this is what you're dealing with.
