2012 Vector LTX vs. Apex XTX

Question - Currently own a 2006 Attak and looking to upgrade to the Vector or Apex with power steering. I typically ride narrow, winding trails in upstate NY and VT, and I like the idea of a sightly lighter sled than the Apex, but I don't want to lose the initial torque. Is the low-end power of the Vector similar/very close to the Apex? Also, I've heard that the Vector is sluggish and has a vibration between 0 and 35 mph. Is there any truth to this statement?

Appreciate any advice that can be offered.

Fuelie Vector is awesome. No hesitation.

Low end grunt is fine. Not a lot less low end torque than your sled.

I felt no vibration.

Handles better than the Apex due to lower COG.

If 2011 Vector had power steering I would have bought one for a trail sled rather than the Apex.

I would go Vector based on how you say you ride.

Was told that the Vector will hang with the Apex up until about 80mph the the Apex slowly pulls away.

Mine is an 08 and I don't notice any of the things you mention, it is a great sled imo and handles the tighter trails better than the Apex's due to the lower centre of gravity.

I would love to own the new EPS Vector, imo that would be the perfect sled. ;)!

I have both of them. As far as speed in windy trails they are pretty equal and you won't loose much if any ground on a vector compared to an Apex.

The comfort of the 2" higher seat on the Apex and the fact you get on the open RR grades or lakes and open it up make it better than the Vector. If they moved the new Vector seat up like the Apex seat then it would be perfect but I like them both and own both of them.

I ride the Apex because it puts a smile on your face everytime you hit the gas.

Is it worth 3-4 grand more than the Apex. I would say if you are looking cost go Vector LTX GT if you can afford it go Apex XTX. They are both great sleds and I hated my Apex right away and wanted to stay on my Vector but the more you drive it the more you get used to it. The PS is a different animal and takes about 300-500 miles to get used to but when you switch to another sled without it you can really feel the difference on the long trips it is great.

Put the semi aggressive snow trackers on the new skis or get a set of old skis and put the aggressive snow trackers on it. :jump:

X2 all but one thing. I have love my Apex from day one.

Interesting.

I also own the 2006 Attak and am also now looking at the Vector.

The Attak was so hard to throw around, I'm actually looking at the regular track Vector (121 inch track).

Big guy, so not sure about the smaller sled.

Info. above helps.

Maybe I'll have a look at the Vector LTX.

(PS - also considering a move to the dark side. Met a rider who migrated from the 2006 Attak to 2011 SkiDoo 1200 4 stroke Renegade, and he loves it. They seem reliable, and ride is 'better' ??)

On this years TY Demo ride we lined the Vector LTX and Apex up. Both riders grabbed full throttle and neither sled was pulling away from the other. eventually they ran out of space but it was pretty cool seeing the vector being right there with the Apex for the entire stretch. It would be a tough call for myself but the fuel mileage of the Vector would probably seal the deal.

X2, my carbed 08 gets incredible gas mileage imo (17-20+) and they say the FI version gets about 5-6mpg better than it. ;)!

With the Huack Exhaust its gone.

That's good to know, I only drove an Apex once and hearing that drone and imagining listening to it all day was enough for me to never consider one.

Irv,

On my last day of riding this year, I drove my '06 Nytro, its a lot of fun to ride, but after 2 season on the Apex, it just seem too quiet to me. I never had a problem with the sound of the Apex. The Nytro only weighs 16.5 pounds less, and If I'm going to have the weight, I'll take the 30 extra HP of the Apex.
I love the sound of the Apex, and have ever since I took one for a ride.

Drone..........What Drone....... :-o ;)!
