2012 Venture Lite
Hi - recently picked up a used sled, very excited to be running a 4-stroke Yamaha. Doing some maintenance and wanted to check the spark plugs as encouraged in the manual.

Where the heck are the spark plugs? No mention of location in the manual, and don't want to start disassembling until I'm more certain. Have seen other posts suggesting the gas tank and/or seat need to be removed.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I haven't done this myself but I do have the service manual for my 2014 MP. You are right, its the rider seat, side covers, fuel tank cover and the tank itself. The guys that have done it seem to think it is fairly straight forward. I would suggest being extra cautious with the electrical, both what you disconnect and what you might pull on inadvertently. One bad connection seems to be able to screw things up and sometimes be very hard to track down.

This is a source of exploded parts diagrams. Good luck, going fishing myself right now.

Welcome to TY! :welc:

That is correct. Seat and gas tank need to come off. While you are there, remove the cover for the exhaust and check the donuts. The stock ones have a tendency of self destructing easily. Replace them with permanent non-destructible copper ones available from Sledtoyz in Canada. I've ordered from him before, he's an advertiser here and has great service.

Need any help with anything, go ahead and post in this section. Lots of great guys here ready to assist. :D

Mooseman, is it required/recommended to use a copper gasket sealant when replacing with a copper gasket? Or is it not necessary?

Not necessary. Anything you could put on there short of cement will burn off.
