2012 XTX Airframe Running Boards???

Ordered the Skinz airframe running boards for my 2012 XTX, started working on them last night and ran into a snag. Im not sure if I have the right running boards or if its just a make it work situation. The drop bracket seems to be off from where it is supposed to rivet on to the running board. So has anyone else run into this problem? What should I do to fix it?

I would have ran into the same problem a couple of weeks ago too, but I read a few other threads on here talking about how the install went. I don’t remember who posted it but they specifically pointed this problem out, so I made a point of removing the outside aluminum extrusion from the old boards first, then I laid the new boards on and traced the outline with a Sharpie. I actually cut the tunnel around the rear triangle bracket and installed a few rivets in that location too for extra strength. As far as your situation.........you may be S.O.L. unless you know someone who can weld aluminum. You may also be able to get away without worrying about it. These boards add a ton of strength and that little bit in the rear may not even matter.

You are correct the drop bracket will not line up with the triangle bracket on the new boards. Did you cut off the drop bracket? Thats what Im concerned with is not being able to rivet whats left of the bracket to the running boards. Or would I be ok with putting 3 rivets through the bracket attaching it to the tunnel.

I did cut them off, but I left enough to rivet them to the new boards. Heres a pic from underneath.

One other thing I also did was buy 50 OEM rivets from OFT racing.

I had the same question, see my tread installing the Air Frames.

I emailed Skinz and got this answer (short answer, just follow the instruction )

The recommended instillation requires you to cut the rear suspension drop bracket off so that it is flush with the 3/4" flange left on the tunnel.

Yamaha has different models that put the drop bracket in different places but yours is in the right spot.

So just cut away with the grinder. But don't do like me, cut a finger
