2013 Apex pulls big train on skidoo etecs

But fun to ride not even close.
I think that's a bit subjective. I know that I have fun. I would bet there is not one person who has not had "fun" riding an apex. I'm not sure how you are measuring "fun" :sled1:

Outside of strait line speed the apex has nothing else on this doo

Hmmm I didn't know the Doo had power steering?

I owned a 2011 apex so i know all about power steering. the doo doesn't have it and the fact is it doesn't need it.

Fighting a losing battle here Bud! I understand what you meant.... Lots of blinders on here...

Anytime you see E-tec 800 and Apex in the same header line, you can guarentee itll be a pissing match! On that note, the most satisfaction youll get between these two is when you race them side by side, regardless of state of tune, just go for it!

FWIW, havent been beat out by an e-tec yet, muahahaa ;)!

The 800 e tec is faster in the loose snow then the apex on hard pack the apex is faster ... The e tec is a funner sled to ride but the apex has the relaibilaty and better fit and finish... But as a rider im all about the fun factor and the doo has the most of that but i am not rich and i have to keep a sled at lest 3 to 4 years so i ride the apex... If money was no object in my life i woud buy a new doo evry year and stay on a ski doo forever..

I guess if you consider it fun to spend several days out of the short season having repair work done on your sled or waiting for the day that the top end or clutch blows up "fun" than I guess us Apex owners are missing out. Guess I just don't understand how much fun it is to ride back into town on the end of a tow rope.

I had no idea I wasn't having as much fun just adding gas and riding my sled.

I never said the apex wasn't a fun sled. But when your comparing it to the doo it's not even close. There are lots of guys out there that have had issues with their doo and there are also lots of guys that have not. I'm pretty sure doo has sold 10 times the amount of etecs then Yamaha has sold apexs. There is a larger pool of doos out there so there are going to be more issues reported

To say it's more fun to ride a skidoo is not only subjective, it's ridiculous. The guys I ride with all have skidoos and they all break down constantly. They are very poorly made and very unreliable. I have swapped with my friends and ridden their 800 etecs and ptecs and fail to see where it's more fun. I guess when there "running" it's equally fun? Snowmobiling is fun. I was even fun back when they all had leaf springs and 2-3 inches of travel.

I guess if there is nothing else positive to say about a skidoo you can say it's more fun. Not in my book........

Although, Not a fan of the etec at all. More like a weed wacker motor, IMO. BUT, If I was going to trade in every year, because I had the money to do it, then I would be on the etec 800. THEY ALL DONT HAVE PROBLEMS. I have seen some that have lasted 8000 miles easily, but have seen some that have failed at 3000. It is weird thats for sure. But, nobody has a chassis like DOO and the quality is there. Is it as good as the Apex in quality. No. Its close... Its more quaility then a Nytro. Its better then a CAT or Polaris. Its the reason they are Number 1 in sales. Although, the Apex is a great sled, there's lots of faults on the Apex, and its very heavy. So is it fun to drive a tank or a Indy Car? I'm not bashing either here, but you have to see jtsrx point and he has every Yamaha sled to date... You can't tell him that he does not know what he is talking about. People need to be a little more open minded and not so brand loyal...

when jtsrx say's the apex is not even close to the etec i think that's more of an opinion i've rode ptec and etec i still have more fun on my apex, but again that's my opinion

Fact is I was going to buy a 2012 apex and i would have been very happy with it. Another fact is I owned a 2011 so I know what the power steering apex is all about. I owned two nytro rtxse and a 2006 attack 2003 rx1 that I turned into a 136 with ad bovine 3 srx's a venture gt and a vector ltx gt 3 vipers and a sx500. So my product knowledge of Yamaha is beyond strong.

The attack vector ltx gt and the 2011 apex were pretty close to the doo in ride quality in studdders. When I say close the doo is still better. I was flat out shocked at how good the doo was.

The doo also made me a better rider. The sled builds confidence in you. You drive the sled it doesn't drive you. This is he first sled I've ridden without some kind of traction product. I was a little nervous to ride it. The mad Russian and I were picking up and putting them Down as good or better then we usually do.

I agree riding without studs is awesome... Slid it in a ride the bank.... I am about to take them off my sled or go down to a min 2 per row and at suggested length to lower the side bite, since I am not really drag racing anyone these days...

fact is i'm not questioning anyone's product knowledge just after riding a etec still enjoy the apex more

re

On our trip we did a 950 mile loop in 5 days. On the second day the f1000 cat with 1,000 miles on the sled cooked a piston at the fatherest point from the truck (450 miles) cost our guy $850.00 just to get back to the truck. then two days at the motel alone. Thats why i ride a four stroke yamaha.
