2013 Apex xtx

Looking for some advice, I have a 2013 Apex XTX and has 3100 miles and noticed the idler wheels cracking .I am seeing some guys putting on a bigger size wheel (from barn of parts )and should also replace the sliders .Is there a specific type of slider that I should be considering other then oe?

Buy the Excel wheels from Excel Motorsports, Excel wheels and OEM hyfax's last a lot of miles.

with the larger wheels, you can run stock sized plastic. done that for 26000 km on my 11. it now has duponts on it as my gf runs it now and i don't want to worry about it. kimpex wheels are what i run as they make an oversize replacement that looks the same as the stock ones.

I tried the Kimpex wheels, The rubber started peeling off with 286 miles, sent them back for my refund.

teamblue4. yes that could happen if your studs are not pulled in enough to avoid the damage to the wheel. i had that happen on the stock idlers and after i retorqued the studs flush to the track surface i haven't had anymore problems. I also added two sets of marginal wheels as wheel as the 6 oversize idlers and i'm getting great slider wear as well.

I replaced the Kimpex with the Excel and have got 4191 miles on the Excel with no show of any wear. And did nothing with my studs.

I run the Kimpex oversized idler wheels and have over 18,000 miles on the 08 Apex and 6000 miles on the 18 Apex and the only ones I have had to replace were due to damage caused by the stud either coming loose or not being properly seated and chewed into the rubber of the idler wheel. Of course, I also remove the seals and repack the bearings and probably have replaced more bearings on these Kimpex idler wheels than the wheels themselves. Fortunately, the bearings are only $5 which may explain why I have had to replace the bearings even with yearly maintenance.
