I'm trading in my 2011 Apex XTX...too fast and I prefer the smoothness of the 3 cylinder on the trail. Gas stations up here in the U.P. are charging 40-50 cents more for premium gas too. I do like the EPS! Prior to the XTX I put 15,000 kiles on a 07 Venture GT. my 07 venture GT got about 4 mpg less than my wife's 06 Rage.

How are new owners doing with their 2012 Vector LTXs and Venture GTs on gas mileage?- Bob

Between 16mpg to 22mpg depending on snow condition, temperature and speed those engines are way more efficient under 6500rpm. that been said my buddy who rode a vector ltx are always within 1/2 liter of me with my venture gt even if I used a lower gearing than him. the biggest difference between these sleds are the riding position/wind protection and rear suspension. when the trail became rought at the end of the day I let him in the dust. :-o

For gas mileage, I can't compare because I don't have Vectors in my group, but I usually get between 18 mpg and 21 mpg - imperial gallons. Either way, you'll be getting better than your Apex and can use 87.

I agree with Agaguk's comments. The Venture suspension is similar in design to the old Apex RTX (two shocks and torsion springs) and I have yet to have it bottom out even though it's smooth on smaller bumps. the 144 helps with that as well, compared to the 136 on the LTX.

The Venture has lots of storage (see my other post to see what I keep in mine) and the option of carrying a passenger (whether planned or unplanned). Plus you can use the backrest for yourself when riding alone to reduce the stress on your shoulders. And if you want to mount a gps or spot, the windshield support brackets are ideally located for that.

My preference is for the extra horsepower though, and my only reluctance about the Venture when I got it was that it wasn't available with the Apex motor. I guess we're all different!

I also forgot to mentioned that for 600$ difference between these sled you will spend way more than that on a vector to improved the wind protection or adding saddle bags or even a seat jack if you planned to bring someone with you.
