I'm new to the Yamaha family and am a little frustrated. I have 816 miles on my 13 XTX and the slides are already spent. The dealer says that every Yamaha they sell has this issue but Yamaha is not admitting there is a problem. So, the dealer put on a wheel kit between the last two idlers and upgraded the sliders to the Yamaha kevlar ones. I never had slider issues with my Ski Doos and am hoping the $270 I just spent isn't wasted. Any suggestions? :die

I agree that it's really terrible that Yamaha still has these slider issues. I swear they do this to make more money selling accessories like the Dupont sliders.

I've noticed that I'm down to the wear line on my Apex again (2nd set <2000km). I'm going to install larger aftermarket idler wheels and aftermarket sliders. NO WAY IS YAMAHA GETTING MORE MONEY FROM ME ON ACCESSORIES!

Depending on snow conditions I would ride it a few more time and check the wear. On my former RTX se I was at 2300 on the original. They seem to go quick at the star but then stay there for a while.

From what I've seen, the DuPont are great, not sure I need any wheels, if they keep holding up this well I will start removing wheels.

On my XTX new slides would wear about half way in the first fifty miles. Then I would have to replace them at about 1000 miles. This year I put on the Excell wheel kit and new slides, not the DuPont ones. So far about 500 miles and the slides look new.

You can ride a long time with sliders down to wear mark. I put on a good 2000 kms with my sliders wore out. I always check to make sure the sliders aren't wore right through.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and support! I my have fell for the "Oh my Gosh" factor from the dealer as they may have talked me into replacing these before they really needed it. They were "at" the wear line along a 10" area and fine everywhere else. I'll run the XTX the rest of the season and see where they end up. THANKS!!!

Your new sliders are going to wear down to the wear mark real fast. After they wear down to wear mark i can get another 1500 miles from them .

untill i put hyperfax slides on my xtx I was going thru sliders in less than 500 miles, changed them 3 times before switching... one time I let them go because of the "they wear down to the wear mark then stop" saying that alot of people say on here then guess what, damaged rail... I caught it before it became a problem but I belive the xtx has too big of a gap between the wheel at the bend and the wheel at the shock compared to the rtx...

now after 1000 miles on the hyperfax slides last season, and 300 and counting this season, zero slide wear... I bought a set of hyperfax slides for my a/c suspension that Im going to put in next week and run with no bogey wheels for the rest of the season because I belive they are that good. oh... and since we finally have good snow to ride on also

Excell wheels and low snow wheels up front on the curve. 5000 km on the same set of slides and the only place they were worn down to half was where there were no wheels.

Apart from that, apparently white slides last longer than any coloured slides including graphite.
