so I have decided against spending more on a sidewinder and want to purchase a used viper for wife. Looking at a 2014 with about 1900 miles and a 16 with 1000 miles. Is there anything I should be worried about on the 14 versus buying the 16 ? The 14 is about $2000 less
I believe the 2016 will have a trihub that allows for replacing the bearings. I also believe the 2016 has a design change to the jack shaft to eliminate the wobble bearing in the chain case. Also, the 16’s had a problem with the piston rods when turbo was added. None of the above are major as new design trihub can be bought cheap or an aftermarket kit added. Upgraded jack shaft can be added as well. Cannondale did a write up on what parts and how with pics. With that low of mileage I would not be concerned. At 4000-5000 I would consider the jack shaft swap. Might be a few other small things I can’t think of right now.
Subscribed! Found a 2014 for under $5k. Has higher miles and am waiting to hear about maintenance. Would like to know what I should be looking at or if I should pass and look for a 2016 or 2017.
