I found this problem with wheeling and long climbs on a steep slope..... The bold lettering could have been a by-product of my cutting and pasting the text

Bet that shorter screen and baffle prevents the pump from air locking when tipped on right side. Heck I see guys carve as far over as I had mine when it air locked and dumped oil! Sure would miss my site glass though.

I have a 15 with the updated tank and I still have problems climbing hills and rolling my sled over and not priming. So I'm gonna say this didn't fix the problem.

I am hoping somebody would do the MPI return to engine instead of oil tank and see if it fixes it for N/A sleds too. I VOTE CANNONDALE! lol

Both of our sleds have the return to engine for the air/oil sep box and that part works great if that's what you are talking about?

Yes, was wondering if anybody has tried it on a Naturally Aspirated Viper.

Simple concept. Get rid of the return line from the oil air separator to the bottom of the oil tank, and return to the engine instead. When you tip the sled, it is the residual oil that is always in the return line that ends up in the air box and makes a mosquito foggier out of the viper. The return line does not have a backflow preventer in it so the oil in the line backflows into the separator and then air box when you tip the sled. Seperator still breaths to air box, but returns to mag side of engine instead. Maybe MPI can chime in on the application to NA vipers as he developed the plumbing mod. I know a lot of NA guys would do this if they knew it worked. What do you mean n/a sleds? I would but would need to know the effect it has on crank case pressure or if it's the same. Most 4strokes have pressure. Yamaha does not. It supposedly assist longevity and ring seal because the Pistons don't rock as much as when under pressure.

Hence the need for input from the designer. I would expect that this was considered in the design, but only MPI can tell us that for sure. Not sure though why it would work for the turbo and not for NA. Oil plumbing is the same whether turbo'd or not, or am I missing something?I would but would need to know the effect it has on crank case pressure or if it's the same. Most 4strokes have pressure. For $25, I would like to keep oil out of the air box, but motor longevity is priceless.
Does anyone know if the MPI trail turbo is coming with this plumbing mod?

Originally this mod did not come with the turbo kit but MPI sent them for free to anyone who purchased a turbo last year to the dealer where your turbo was originally sent to. This year its supposed to be part of the kit. When I spoke to MPI last year while they were testing this mod in R&D they told me a stock sled would start spilling oil into the air intake around 30 degrees and after the mod it didn't spill oil until about 80 degrees. I can tell you that we used to spill oil all the time into the air intake but after the mod its been a non issue and our sleds are on the side all the time ( those are called random carbide/ski bottom inspections )

How do you tell if you dealer installed the oil line plumbing mod? My dad ordered his kit in October of last year but didn't get it until February and they installed it in February.

Look behind the Muffler at the mag cover. If its installed you will see 2 lines going to the side of the mag cover. One line for the turbo oil return, one line for the air/oil return.
