2015 Apex SE or Apex XTX ???

If you stud be sure to reinforce the tunnel protectors not sure on the xtx but the shorties have issues there

yes the XTX has issues with the protectors as well, they do need to be reinforced at each hanger to keep them from breaking off because they are only made of aluminum. there is also more ice build up at the rear heat exchanger behind the snowflap that when it freezes overnight adds extra weight to the protectors until it warms up enough to help melt it. to help take the weight at this location a riveted in a 1" flat bar across the back on the protectors to hold them together. I also added 6 oversize lower idlers and 2 sets of marginal wheels and now have minimal slidder wear, like i can now go at least 4500KM on set of regular plastic slids without issues. if you do stud make sure you torque them down enough to eliminate the stud head contact to the lower idlers under the front shock rear shock (center shock) . they do take some punishing if you don't. I also added the track contact eliminator kit (not sure what that is called now but the RA suspension has this problem as well) that Ulmer sells for the top of the rear shock because the track does come into contact with the shock. it's just 2 bearings added to the upper bolt. As for setup, i weigh 215lbs dressed, i have my transfer set to minimum to keep the front end planted, rear torsion spring set to soft, straps pulled up one hole from the longest seating and tightened up the preload on the centre shock. You can add a lot of weight to the front which is nice because of the EPS. I have switched to the GYTR piggy back shocks for the front because i wanted the extra adjustability, i can't rmemebr what i have the front springs set too.

good luck with your purchase, i was hesitate about the long track on tight trails but after setting it up i do not regret it at all. the regular shock 128" (not the SE because i haven't ridden one) does seem to ride a little smoother on the trail but the XTX does handle the rough better, it's a trade off.

Thanks for your input. What kind of changes to you make for your setup, shocks ??? I have studs on my current sled the 09 Vector and I love them. I've heard studding this sled will be a little difficult, but I think I've read enough tips on doing it. Might even look into some tunnel protectors. Thanks again for your input.
Studding XTX & SE not the best way to go. Prestudded track better way to go avoid stud hazards with heat exchangers & EXUP on these sleds or you will be running a tight studded track & worrying about clearance. Do your research on studding before you do it lots of opinions & guideance on TY regarding SE & XTX.

I think I'm going to get the 1.75 track and rock with that. I'm just use to studding tracks, I don't think I should on this one.

never had issues with the studs hitting the exup but i can see that happening if someone that runs the track way to loose, that 's what the protectors are there for.

Yeah I'm not there on 1.75 tracks yet but agree would not stud. 1.75 track maybe evolve to best all around track but 1.75 on hardpack to me not kind to northern WI hardpack or hyfax wear. 1.75 will be better for off trail applications no doubt about that but for trail riding groomed trails when snow is transitioning I'm leary. You could add cable scratchers but to me 2 more things to worry about + tears up groomed trails. I don't thnk Yamaha offered 1.75 track on XTX until model year 16 not on 15s but you could upgrade I suppose. For me that track upgrade would be pre studded track not higher lug than 1.25

No marks on anything from studs on ours, 5768 and 6132 miles. We wont ride without them.

Over 10,00 mi. On my 11 with a 1.5 Crossover. Excel wheels and DuPont sliders and I get 3500-4000 on a set of slides. Really like the track. I've got over 14,000 miles with this style of track and its performed flawlessly. That said, I'm switching it out to a 1.75 Backcountry

for better off trail capability. Just gearing down and adding scratchers.

X2!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in the market for a new sled. I'm looking at the Apex but I'm confused on what to buy for sure. I ride mostly on roads, trails and lakes, some off trail riding. What's everyone's' opinion the SE or the XTX? I'm sure both of these are great sleds, just looking for some feedback.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Current ride is an 2009 Vector GT.
If you decide on xtx go with the star suspension upgrade you will love it.
