Have riden Yamaha since 1997 and I think my next sled will not be Yamaha . I just came back from Jackson hole wy. after riding a artic cat I hope they change . I am 6/4 and have to say the sled was uncomfortable . If the new viper is the future of Yamaha they can keep them it is just a shame .I own a 09 apex gt and a 2010 nytro rtx se hope they keep the apex series . Good luck to the guys that have vipers I can wait a couple years love my supercharger .

I'm 6'2" and I feel for you. I tried the SkiDoo 4 stroke and it wasn't for me. Way too small. I put on 10000 miles on my 07 Attak then went and bought another one with 800 miles. Maybe we should buy another one still and keep it stored just in case of that day they drop the Apex.

I don't understand how it was uncomfortable. I'm 6'3" and this is the first sled I've been able to ride standing up without hunching over. I did put a 7.5 riser on but otherwise stock. I guess if you enjoy sitting down all day the apex is the ticket but I can't stand up at all on that chassis.ctp1528 said:Have riden Yamaha since 1997 and I think my next sled will not be Yamaha . riser
Added 2 inch riser and works great . The nitro is better imo from sitting to standing but the apex is fine now added foam to the seat to . Just not a fan of the new viperto much cold air on lower body . I have added taller wind shields and the sides so maybe just have to work on it .

I don't ride standing up. I wish I could. Those days are gone. I bet OP doesn't either.

If sleds where meant to be rode standing up they wouldn,t have a nice comfy seat. Apex is the ultimate trail sled. I can pull myself up for the bad bumps and that is the most standing I do. In fact most of us with disposable income are reaching our golden years. Standing up other then to get across a bad bump is a thing of the past.
Apex forever!

40 to 50% of Yamaha's problem I swear is marketing. It's like that 'Core Needs' campaign they were pushing a couple of years ago. What the Hell was that all about? If I'm buying a Mini Van I'll listen to Core Needs. But when I'm buying a snowmobile I want to feel like I'm breaking the law."Yes Mr. Taylor I'll have your daughter home on time and I won't touch her.... Promise." CORE NEEDS? REALLY! DON'T TRY TO SELL ME ON CORE NEEDS. Nobody needs a snowmobile. There's nothing remotely fiscally responsible about buying a snowmobile. NOTHING!!!! We get to ride them about 2,000 miles per year if we're lucky. I want marketing that says we're going to have to have the smiles surgically romoved from our faces. Not this Poindexter you'll get the best resale value and it meets all of your CORE F_ING NEEDS!!!.

The viper has no leg room ! im 6.1 and my knees were killing me just after 60 mi ride and i have to strech my arms fully to hold on to the bars.. Standing is awsome but no one is gona ride 200 mi standing.. I have to sit so far back on the seat cuse my knees jam in to the panals it feels like im riding old school style sled with new style looks... My nytro is so much more comfy..

Don't say no one. I rode 470 miles last weekend and sat down for less than 50 of it. And the only reason I sat that long was because it was railroad grade. I can however comfortably sit on this sled without sore knees. The pads really help.Mad Russian said:The viper has no leg room ! im 6.1 and my knees were killing me just after 60 mi ride and i have to strech my arms fully to hold on to the bars.. why is the lineup a let down, yamaha went from a 15 sled lineup to a 27 sled line up in a cpl years,i know they are not all pure yammi's but it cant be a bad thing,it is better than the alternative of not having yamaha at all,i am stoked about what's happenning, the day they come out with 35 sleds, some will want 40,it never ends
