- 2015 Yamaha Viper GTYR
Hey everyone, my grandpa rides a 2015 Viper GYTR (136 inch track, was all the model info he had in his head). He was asking me about how to lighten the suspension as it is much too hard for him to ride comfortably. He has even lost things out of his sled bag because they fly out it is so stiff.
He said he's found thinner springs for it, but wants to know what others have done or if they've ever used the lighter spring kit, how it rides.

Model does matter. If it has the 2" rear shock like the SE's have Revalve the rear shocks. They messed up the valving in 14 and 15. Revalve is Hugely better in every way handling and ride. The lighter springs the 16's and 17's have also help depending on rider wieght. If he has a standard model with the 1.6 shocks then he may just be over riding them or they need refresh. I revalve the 2" shocks for $80 each.

Thank you CannonDale, He said there is one shock in the back, not sure on size, sorry for vague info, I haven't actually seen this sled of his, but he's not so internet savvy. He is in New Brunswick, Canada. So I'd have to find a shop near there that could do it, or what would be needed for a revalving to do it ourselves.
He's only 170lbs, so the lighter the suspension can get, the better.

I am not sure who does revalves in Canada but hopefully others will chime in. Other really good option would be to buy a new 2016 Qs3 rear shock. Would probably be cheaper than paying shipping and revalve cost to the US.
If he said it only has one shock in rear is it possible he has a Vector which is a totally different sled.

You could send the shocks to star suspensions in Montreal, I weigh 180 and the viper (if that's what he rides) really needs a revalve. Robert at star suspensions is the guy to talk to. Even if it's not a viper he can help you out

Definitely a Viper. Don't have picture of the under side of it though. I think he is going to look into someone who can revalve his shock / shocks.
Thank you Froggy, we will definitely give him a call if he can't find a local guy that knows how.

Thank you Nkroeger too, sounds like a revalve is exactly what is needed. Will add Star suspension to the call list too.
